Unser neuer Flimmercast vor der Sommerpause kommt vom talentierten Till aus unserer liebsten Stadt, Halle an der Saale. Ob nun hinter den Decks oder im Studio, Augenstein schafft es mit seinem einzigartigen langsamen Sound weniger langsamere Bewegungen hervorzurufen! Mit einigen Releases bei bekannten Labels wie @downvienna, @randomcollectivecr und natürlich bei seiner Crew @finebeatz hat sich Augenstein bereits einen Namen gemacht. Zurücklehnen oder vielleicht lieber ein paar Meter zurücklegen. Ganz egal, der Sound von Augenstein passt überall hin!

Danke für NY! Neue Tracks sind dabei, hört man glaube ich. So ab der Hälfte bekommt das Set einen Drive, den ich während des auflegens so sehr geliebt und genossen habe, dass ich das Set mit euch teilen möchte. Deepe Achtsame Klänge und wuchtiges gewirbel sorgten für viel Spaß. Ich hatte mich sehr gefreut Alma Linda den Floor so übergeben zu können. Danke ihr Ravers!! <3

Heute darf ich besonders stolz und mit grosser Vorfreude eine neue Ausgabe, der mittlerweile erfolgreichen Sinneswandel Podcast Serie präsentieren.

Am Start diesmal niemand geringerer als Lee Jones.

Ein Mann, der seit langem in der Musikszene aktiv und äusserst erfolgreich ist.

Für mich einer meiner Favoriten, was meine Dj-Sets angeht. Seine Musik berührt und ist gleichzeitg verträumt aber auch unglaublich groovig.

Zum ersten Mal in Erscheinung tritt Lee Jones mit dem Ambient-Projekt E.V.A. 1995. Nach dem Release des Albums "Extra Vehicular Activity" geht er eigene Wege und gründet das nu-Jazz, post-drum and bass project Hefner.
Schnell wird er in England bekannt und wird unter anderem auch von der Legende und BBC Radio 1-DJ Gilles Peterson gespielt und einem grossen Publikum vorgestellt.

2002 zieht es ihn nach Berlin und ist da Teil von mymy, eines der erfolgreichsten Techno Minimal Trios, mit Releases auf Labels wie Playhouse, Circus Company oder auch Will Sauls Imprint "Aus Music" und Ostgut Ton. 
Dies ist auch der Beginn einer 15 jährigen Erfolgsgeschichte als Resident im Watergate Club in Berlin.
 
Momentan pendelt er zwischen Berlin und London hin und her, 
hat sich mit Downtempo, Songwriting und Klavierkompositionen befasst und arbeitet weiterhin als Remixer und Produzent für andere Künstler und releast auf dem who ist who der angesagtesten Labels, wie Amselcom, Cityfox oder Watergate Records, um nur ein paar zu nennen.

So, genug der Geschichtsstunde, auch wenn ich noch lange weiter erzählen könnte.

Heute darf ich Euch nun einen Mix von ihm präsentieren. Hört doch rein und ich hoffe Ihr habt genau so viel Spass wie ich!

Today I am particularly proud and very much looking forward to presenting a new episode of the already successful Sinneswandel podcast series.

This time it's none other than Lee Jones.

A man who has been active in the music scene for a long time and has been extremely successful.

For me, he is one of my favorites when it comes to my DJ sets. His music is touching and at the same time dreamy but also incredibly groovy.

Lee Jones made his first appearance with the ambient project E.V.A. in 1995. After the release of the album "Extra Vehicular Activity", he went his own way and founded the nu-jazz, post-drum and bass project Hefner.
He quickly became known in England and was played by the legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson, among others, and introduced to a large audience.

In 2002 he moved to Berlin and became part of mymy, one of the most successful electronic minimal trios, with releases on labels such as Playhouse, Circus Company and Will Saul's Aus Music and Ostgut Ton imprints. 
This is also the beginning of a 15 year resident success story at Watergate Club, Berlin. 
 
Lately he commutes between Berlin and London, has been into downtempo, songwriting and piano compositions and continues to work as a remixer and producer for other artists and releases on the who's who of the hottest imprints such as Amselcom, Cityfox or Watergate Records to name but a few.

So, enough of the history lesson, even if I could go on for a long time.

So my dad got curious when I kept talking to him about my gigs (he already told me that he had been mixing when he was a young adult) and at some point he asked me to show him my music collection. He kind of confessed to me that he actually also sometimes really likes electronic music and so he asked me if I would do a mix for him. 

We digged together through my collection, I got an idea of what he likes and thats the final result! At some point I struggled, cause I wanted it to be perfect for my dad, but I came further more to the conclusion that no matter how important a project is, imperfection is always fine!  

yes, there are already well known tracks
yes, there a lot of vocals,
yes, there are a lot of cheesy tracks,
but I totally don’t care, cause this is all about a project to fulfill a wish of my dad!

Wir von Afterhour Sounds versuchen immer wieder über den Tellerand zu schauen und neue spannende Musiktrends, als auch dazugehörige Künstlerinnen und Künstler zu finden, die gut auf eine Afterhour passen würden. Nicht dass uns bounciger Down- und Midtempo oder Techno langweilt. Ganz im Gegenteil. Finden wir immer noch spannend. Aber Abwechslung gehört eben auch dazu. Von daher wundert euch nicht. Denn heute sind wir ganz weit weg von Deutschland. In einem Land, dass so gut wie niemand auf dem Schirm hat. Die Rede ist von Kasachstan und dem dort wohnhaften Künstler Mark Redlights, den ich während einem Gig dort kennenlernte. 

Sein Sound ist definitiv nicht von dieser Welt. Verspuhlter House mit hypnotischer Wirkung beschreibt es ganz gut. Macht euch auf ein ganz feines Set gefasst, dass nicht nur zeitlos daherkommt, sondern einen schlichtweg in den Bann zieht. Dazu eine Playlist, die ihres gleichen sucht. Track ID's vorprogrammiert.

We at Afterhour Sounds are always trying to think outside the box and find exciting new music trends and artists that would fit in well at an afterhour. Not that we're bored of bouncy down- and midtempo or techno. Quite the opposite. We still find it exciting. But variety is also part of it. So don't be surprised. Because today we're a long way from Germany. In a country that almost nobody has on their radar. We're talking about Kazakhstan and the artist Mark Redlights, who lives there and whom I got to know during a gig there. 

His sound is definitely out of this world. Spooky house with a hypnotic effect describes it quite well. Get ready for a very fine mix that not only comes across as timeless, but simply casts a spell over you. Plus a playlist that is second to none. Track ID's pre-programmed.

INTERVIEW:

✔️ What is your musical background?
As many people, I was influenced by a variety of artists and genres. I've started my musical journey as a drummer, listening to rock music, funk and soul. Yet I was always fascinated by synthesizers and drum machines, which eventually led to my obsession with electronic music. I've started DJing and producing House and Techno, but have discovered new genres almost every months. Now it's even hard for me to decipher what styles are my favorite. 

✔️ What does a afterhour means to you?
I would say that good "afterhours" might mean totally different things for everyone. A lot of people from my are would prefer some hard bangers until the very end of the rave. I, in contrary, might enjoy some minimal grooves, which will lead me to a smooth landing.

✔️ How should an afterhour sounds like?
That's exactly what ive tried to achieve with my set. I will be complete honest, I rarely play as an afterparty DJ, since clubs usually book my for a prime time. However, this is roughly what I would enjoy playing.
