MANSHIN is an album composed from the same sonic materials used in the performance of the same name - some taken directly, others re-recorded and reworked to shape a distinct listening experience. Rooted in research into psychoacoustics and Korean shamanic ritual, it aims to convey intensity, trance, and emotional resonance—interpreted through our own contemporary sensibility.

Rather than documenting or adapting the performance, MANSHIN offers a parallel encounter—where the ritual is carried into the listener's body with what only sounds can do. It is a listening experience that evokes a charged atmosphere, where sound becomes space, and listening becomes a form of entry.

Renowned Vienna-based keyboardist and producer Philipp Quehenberger is known for his improvisational approach to electronic music. With a history of notable releases on respected labels like Cheap Records and Editions Mego and his energetic live sets, Quehenberger has built a reputation for a distinctive sound.

His latest release, the vinyl EP "Hot Water", comes as the inaugural offering from the newly established label “other machines”.

Opening with “Emortal” a slowed down four on the floor beat is acompanied by a heavy bassriff and wobbly psychedelic synthlines, the record picks up speed but maintains its dark but catchy vibe with the house -like "Heaven" featuring  strings and another wallshaking  bassline.

The B-side starts off with "Trytrance", combining filtered melodic fragments with an acid infused synth bassline and a wonky but speedy disco beat. The title track "Hot Water" that sounds like from the inside of a steamroller, and the final track "Thirty Three" each escalate tempo and intensity into a pulsating wall of sound.

Quehenberger's improvisational ethos shines throughout the EP, allowing for spontaneity and exploration while maintaining a cohesive sonic narrative, mirroring his live performance style, where moments of unpredictability often lead to surprising revelations.

Kobermann – Unterland  is the seventh album by Austrian sound artist Johannes Piller. Composed with modular synthesizers and field recordings, the 60-minute cassette release explores the space between ambient, dub, and minimalism. Across seven tracks, Kobermann creates slow, meditative structures that resist digital hyper-speed in favor of texture, patience, and subtle transformation. Echoes of Biosphere, Jan Jelinek, and early tape-based New Age emerge — yet Unterland follows its own inner terrain. A release for listeners who prefer depth over immediacy.

Manos Saklas invites Shilla Strelka for a discussion on Otoliths in Flux.
They have an in-depth discussion on Strelka’s long standing engagement with sonic practices, as well as in the political and the collective dimensions of listening. Her expansive body of curatorial work includes initiatives such as Struma+Iodine and Unsafe+Sounds Festival, which takes place annually in Vienna as a space for critical sound art and experimental music; as well as a long-standing collaboration with the influential Viennese label Editions Mego.

Their conversation delves into the concept of sonic agency, how listening sessions can become a mode of both research and resistance, as well as about her focus on establishing new ways to think and act collectively via sonic means. They also touch on her methods of creating cross-disciplinary encounters that foreground embodied listening, affective politics, and media critique—positioning sound not as a closed field, but as an expanded practice embedded in cultural, technological, and social contexts.
