'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

The artwork was provided by Bill Brown, a Maryland native who lives and works in Ukraine. When the war started, he made his way safely to Germany via Poland. This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. Evocative and spooky contemporary prog. Mekine U Teksi has absolutely nailed it to fetishist levels. It sounds like the synths were certainly the only thing keeping the castle warm the night this was recorded.
The whole record is made even more unnerving by the fact that the 4th track doesn't exist... scary!

This mix was made on request from the legandary Danish DJ Kjeld Tolstrup (R.I.P.) He worked at the Danish National Radio back in 2008 and wanted a wider audience to discover and learn about italo disco. I followed his request and made this italo tribute mix to honor the legendary italo artists and to share my italo passion to the new generation of today. This mix included most of my personal italo top favorits – no obscure records this time. So this mix represent a good example of the early italo sound which got me into italo back in the early 80s. It was played several times at the Danish National Radio which means that at least 500.000 listeners got this ultimate introduction to italo disco!
