Through the times 04 - 2nd Wave Lockdown Edition

A short set I recorded a week ago for a few close friends in the comfort of my cave. Went through some Rominimal, some deep techno, some old school housey stuff towards the end. 

The power went out that night in my neighbourhood. The set, and the speaker powered through my inverter backup was all we had. No lights, no internet, just locked into the zone.

Eden Burns is a DJ and producer hailing from the deep south of Aotearoa/New Zealand. As a teenager, he connected with the world of dance music via scuffed tech-house records in dollar bins and a DVD rip of Paris Is Burning. Drawing on these inspirations, his early productions hit a sweet spot between wide-eyed weirdness and club-ready maximalism. His first outings, back then as part of the duo „Sandboards“ on Feel My Bicep and Cold Tonic, soon led him from the Taieri Plains to clubs and stages worldwide. 

Now trading under his own name, Eden’s vividly colourful productions have found a home on Munich’s multi facetted outlet Public Possession. Together they initiated the Big Beat Manifesto series currently standing at Volume IV with number V & VI already lined up for a what will hopefully be a bright 2022 full of dancing and prancing.

Just to make sure it does not get boring he throws in oddball releases like the ambient excursion “Kelly” or remixes for acclaimed labels like “Optimo” and “Beats in Space”. His productions have gained support from Solomun, Jennifer Cardini, Jamie Tiller, Gerd Janson, Avalon Emerson, Adam Port and more. 

Much like the music he makes, Eden’s DJ sets are reverent and wildly fun, the product of an innately curious talent. Whether in the booth at Rinse FM or NTS, or in front of crowds in London, Dunedin, or Japan, Eden has a habit of weaving sets that are rich and unpredictable, interspersing phases of driving momentum with joyful curveballs and blissful reveries — moments that feel like turning the corner on a precipice and suddenly seeing ocean.

Welcome to The Picnic, A series of Daytime Gatherings to remember how to spend sunsets the right way. 

For our 3rd outing, we invited Yuvraj Arora DJ & Producer from Delhi, India. An enigmatic figure in the electronic music scene in India, he was kind enough to grace us with a 3 hour set in November 2023. 

Sit back, or stand up and groove, this set is one for the books filled with minimal and groovy goodness.

Steering in a slightly up-tempo but still deep'ish pace, This was a closing for the Catch 428 stage that took place on a Monday morning from 3-5:30 AM (right before sunrise). The stage was powered by Void Acoustics "Incubus Edition'- a truly powerful system.

Undoubtedly, catch 428 throughout the weekend was a special adventure that was shared together on the Thai countryside & will be an unforgettable sonic experience engraved in our memories. An extended thanks to Ouissam, Atsushi san, Aki san and the Catch 428 team.

In closing, as DVS1 recently quoted - 'The Soundsystem is the Headliner' :)

Based in Mumbai, Museua is a self taught musician with years of experience under his belt. After multiple international collaborations & releases, particularly in the styles of Hip-Hop, Afro & Caribbean music under a different alias, he now steps into the realm of minimalistic sounds.  

He has been an avid listener & a collector of multiple genres over the years. From early house to modern obscure records, he has it all. His sound generally leans towards deep, minimal & psychedelic vibes with selections that are pretty diverse when it comes to the genres he plays. His sets focus on crafting a captivating journey, prioritizing a seamless progression of tension and release over simply playing his favorite tracks consecutively. Come step into his world as he explores evocative shades of dance music.

Through times edition part 2 finally up. 

Played an extended 3 hour set at a farm house far far away, this is a set I personally really enjoyed.

Had an opportunity to play out an impromptu 3 hour set for some close friends on a lovely rooftop. 

Started off with some warm up deep tunes and then explored the dark arts with my take on the raw and hypnotic side of Techno.
