We're very excited to bring you the second instalment of The Sunrise Mixtapes, and our first guest-mix: None other than Mr Phil Mison! 

A chance meeting with José Padilla at London's Milk Bar lead to a two-season DJ residency at the iconic Café Del Mar in Ibiza in the mid nineties. Phil continues to produce and tour the world. A true champion of the Balearic scene, we were thrilled that he said Yes when we reached out to ask if he’d like to contribute to the series, especially seeing as the mix he’s submitted is a very special live recording of a set he did at the Café Del Mar back in August 1994. It’s a simply gorgeous selection of white-Isle classics and oddities, including ‘Mediterranean Dream’ by Shahin & Sepehr, ‘Voodoo Jammin’ by Dancing Fantasy and ‘Yawn Yawn Yawn’ by Sth Notional, just to mention a handful as there are so many great records in this mix - Seminal music from the golden age of chill.

Andy Wilson belongs to that rare breed of Balearic DJs who actually live in the Balearics. One-time teenage post-punker from Manchester, with four John Peel Sessions and numerous tours under his belt by the age of 18, Andy began DJing in 1991, a natural progression after years of making mix-tapes and spending a fortune on vinyl. 
He DJs and broadcasts regularly but you’re more likely to find him behind the decks at exclusive parties or soundtracking the sunsets at outdoor venues on and off Ibiza than in a big club, although he’s played Pacha, Ushuaia and Destino this season. In 2021 Andy left Hostal La Torre after 5 years as resident DJ and this summer is playing at Pikes , Café Del Mar , The Standard, Sa Trinxa and Kumharas  in Ibiza plus international gigs in New York, London, Manchester and Zurich.

What more could we have wished for our b2b debut on the Robot Heart bus at this year's Burning Man?

As if the sunrise set slot on Friday morning wasn’t already enough of an honor, we all got blessed with the mind-blowing Drone show from Studio Drift while the sky slowly turned blue and red in the morning shimmer. 

Thinking back about this surreal moment still fills us with speechlessness and goosebumps.

Indeed this year's Burning Man theme was spot on: Waking Dreams all around us.

In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. Lou Lou has landed on the Kasheme wavelength with a constellation of soulful spells, syrupy grooves, and tropical rhythms. 

His sets are sun-warmed, bass rooted and shimmy with light, dancing between jazz-funk oddities, deep-house undercurrents, Latin and Brazilian waves,  and arrow-pierced soul.

Before Kasheme, Lou Lou earned his stripes in Berlin’s sync world. Pitching for Netflix-bound series or VICE, he represented a catalogue ranging from Cannes-certified soundtracks, to the cosmic pop of L’Impératrice, not to mention the odd cult-gems (hello, Asha Puthli!). Off the clock — he dissolved hours of his time in vinyl portals and the more soulful side of the Berlin nightlife.
