COSMO Mit Michael Mayer (WDR)- Episode 46

Austrian Apparel haben sich über die letzten Jahre den Ruf erarbeitet, bei ihren Live-Sets tonnenweise Synths & Drum-Machines anzuschleppen. Lieber einen Bandscheibenvorfall riskieren, als sich mit einem schnöden Laptop zufrieden geben. Anstatt sich den endlos beliebigen Weiten digitaler Soundproduktion auszuliefern, hat sich das Wiener Elektronik-Duo somit dafür entschieden, sich das alte Brian-Eno-Motto Kreativität durch Beschränkung zu Herzen zu nehmen. Soundtechnisch sind Austrian Apparel aber gerade deswegen State-of-the-Art und haben sich - auch wenn im Techno geerdet - dem modernen Songwriting verschrieben. So klingt 2020.

2020 legte der Wiener Live Act mit "AAplus" (AA+ Records) sein Debut-Album vor. Die ersten Veröffentlichungen des Duos reichen bis ins Jahr 2012 zurück und es gab in der Folge Auftritte am Frequency Festival, Popfest, Springfestival Graz, Lighthouse Festival, Urban Artforms uvm. Doch wie im Clubmusik-Sektor üblich entsteht in diesem Track-orientiertem Genre ein Album erst nach einer längeren Zeit des Wirkens. Austrian Apparel haben ihre ganz eigene Soundmischung reifen lassen. Um das optimale Kondensat aus "Licht" und "Dunkel" zu finden wurde "AAplus" zur einen Hälfte direkt in der (leeren) Grellen Forelle aufgenommen und zur anderen Hälfte in endlosen Studio-Sessions. So funktioniert "AAplus" sowohl am Dancefloor als auch außerhalb des Clubs.

FLUX FM PODCAST MAY 2017

We are delighted to have one of the most renowned Danish producers on our podcastseries this week: @Kasperbjorke. Lauded for his 2010  album "Standing on top of Utopia" and more recently "After Forever" (2014. He is an artist in the purest form and doesn't shy away from any sound and as a DJ he has performed all over the world at very notable venues. There is not a lot he can't do when it comes to music as you will find in this podcast.

There are very few as innovative and humble as Sascha Funke, a revered producer, disc jockey and all round gentleman. Since 1999 he has helped push electronic music forwards in more ways than he is perhaps accredited for. Releases on the likes of Kompakt, BPitch and Cadeux helped establish him as a reckonable force amidst a time in which dance music underwent an interesting transitional spell. His sound has evolved with age: exploring the roots between experimental electronics, minimal, house and ambient he has established himself as a figurehead for respectability and his recent output has continued to demonstrate this as such. Last year marked the release of a new album on Endless Flight and followed on from EP's on Multi Culti and Turbo. 

We are delighted to be able to feature him as part of our mix series, a warm favourite amidst the Ransom Note gang

Defunct monitor speakers. An erratic record player. Somewhat hazardous was the setting under which this mix was recorded earlier this year in Calvi on Corsica. Aksel Schaufler aka Superpitcher must have had a lot of fun though, as we were immediately hooked by this quasi-archetypal Kompakt mix. Yes, it took a while to make this happen and happily it did happen: Many thanks to Chrigu from Kompakt for setting this up. And cheers to Aksel for being such a suave musician. Don't forget to check out Superpitcher's new album "Kilimanjaro". It's wicked.
