Back at the end of 2006, when Trevor Jackson's Output Recordings folded, I put together a 3 hour tribute mix of my favourite tracks. Solid Steel in association with Serato (5th June) Our first guest this week is Dan Shake, who released his first record on Moodymann's Mahogani Music label, which is no mean feat as he is the first artist to appear on that label that isn't from Detroit. His second release was on the excellent Black Acre label, which had spins on Solid Steel. He has now teamed up with recent guest Medlar for a new EP called 'Walk' on Delusions of Grandeur and is coming out at the end of June. He told us;
“This mix uses a variety of music I have in my collection, some old and some new. All of which i’ve been listening to lots at the moment, and all of which should get ya body movin’!”

Street Dreams is the debut EP by musclecars, a DJ / Producer duo consisting of two native New Yorkers, Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the art form. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, and off the wall club nights, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles.

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound are not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.
