Experimenting with a drum loop from Arturia's Spark drum machine, I added some rich Pigments and Jup-8V arpeggios; FullBucket's great (free!)Korg DW-800 emulation (probably the ugliest looking synth ...ever!); and final touches using UVI's fab new Emu-3, Voyetra 8 brass, and DK5S/Kawai K5000's delicious sweeps. Mastered with bx_style creator; LA mode ... again. The title's from the chemical element Xenon (Xe). It sounds suitably 'clubby' and 54 (as in Studio) being it's elemental number! Disco Gecko series presents Flexagon. Flexagon is a Guernsey-based sound mangler and musical instrument collector. He is also an experienced DJ, music producer, sound engineer and composer. As a DJ Flexagon is known for playing long eclectic and psychedelic sets spanning multiple genres, equally at home playing ambient and chillout as he is with dancefloor-friendly music. Flexagon’s own music productions are increasingly esoteric and wide-ranging. Recent musical compositions have moved well away from four to the floor material towards the ambient and downtempo realms, along with using field recordings and writing for orchestral instruments. About this mix he says: "I like to mix up music styles and float through the decades with my selections for a DJ set, especially one on the more chilled side of things. I hope you enjoy this meander through tracks old and new, from 1982 through to 2022."

Dubmission presents NANDA. Nanda is a Chilean chiller and co-founder of Dreamvibe - a pioneering art collective in the local chill out scene and producers of Earthdance Chile between 1994 - 2001. After some traveling, she moved to Germany in 2002 to become part of the VooV Festival team and for 12 summers she was in charge of the Chillout Stage (which later on became the Alternative Floor). In 2003 she became an Interchill records representative, while also working for Chaishop (in collaboration with Mushroom magazine) as a photo editor, and in 2005 moved to Sweden and started working for Chillosophy music as a label manager and A&R. Since 2007 she is settled in Denmark and runs Wildbro (cultural management and human rights). Her chill out sets strike with simplicity, raw emotion and a clear focus on cohesive story telling. Nanda blends ambient and dub to downbeat, electronica, deep, electro and minimal, crossing genre-borders with the emphasis on the special character of each tune.

Butterfly Wings is Kat Five’s first solo release, a fragile and haunting electronic track about freedom, that features a sample of a butterfly that found its way into her studio. Played by John Kennedy on Radio X X-Posure, it's a song of hope in dark times, and was inspired by Racines in Morocco, and its slogan #LaCultureEstLaSolution. This experimental tune’s message is that even the tiniest actions can create change. It features swirling butterfly sounds, velvet vocals, and sparse crackling beats.
