This mix series focuses on emotional, feel good music that depletes the stresses of life.

Having always felt a profound love for music and the outdoors, Katahdin is the manifestation of a lifelong pursuit to become more connected with the Earth and its inhabitants by means of artistic expression.

Through exploration of psychedelic frequencies, Katahdin utilizes their fascination with intricate sound design to create sonic journeys charged with the intention of connecting to our roots in nature and the cosmos, as well as the inherent human desire to dance - all while acknowledging the duality that exists between darkness & light in our universe.

Katahdin Live | Opening Set for Murkury 3/20/19

Had a blast putting this fun dubstep mix together in anticipation for my show on July 30th with Believe, Full Ride, & Vincent Neloms @ the White Owl in Portland!

Since it's that time of year for sunshine induced decompression, I felt compelled to put some of my all time favorite summer vibes & melodic 140 in this one. I also threw in some darker tracks to keep things fresh while giving a more accurate preview of what to expect from my set on the 30th :::)

Had an absolute blast playing out a bunch of really deep 140 bpm tracks while also throwing in some slower vibey tunes to set the tone for the night :::)

My set ended up transitioning into the one after mine which caused the ending of the recording to sound a bit wonky + there were a couple tracks I wish I had been able to play before running out of time so I decided to add an additional 5+ minutes to the end of this for the sake of artistic integrity/vision lol

was inspired by the blend & snap series (@blendandsnappp) so i figured i'd challenge myself and make a mix featuring some of my favorite rap/hip hop tracks alongside a bunch of bass heavy tunes that i hold near & dear to my heart (with a few curveballs thrown in to make things interesting)

the majority of this isn't even dubstep, but calling it "gucci dub" felt like the vibe

Gucci Dub

Had the honor & pleasure of closing out for @kayadubz's Show Dem EP release party on 11/22/19 as a part of @sacredseshes' Dub Roots event :::)

This was my first time playing out on Funktions, so I tried to pick out tracks that I thought would properly "flex" the speakers. With an emphasis on the darker & more sinister sides of deep dubstep, this was my attempt at providing a journey set with lots of psychedelic sound design, as well as some elements more typical of a decompression set, while maintaining enough energy to keep the crowd moving constantly.

Katahdin Live | Chief Kaya EP Release Closing Set 11/22/19

Had the sincere honor & pleasure of kicking things off in Eugene for the legends @blockheadnyc and @eliotlipp on their Bubble Bath Tour! I felt it was important to stay true to the mood of the night by playing lots of lofi trip hop/glitch hop influenced tracks while also incorporating a healthy dosage of psychedelic vibes to keep things interesting & flowing 🌊

With only 24 hours notice that I was playing this show + finishing up a bunch of term projects & taking final exams the following days, I am really proud of how this set turned out :::) I hope you all get as much enjoyment out of listening to this as I did while playing 💛

Exclusive Mix 006: Katahdin

2020 has been a wicked intense year for me, as I am sure it has been for many of you. Originally, I had envisioned playing my first festival set and releasing music of my own by this time in the year. I also had a few streams lined up where I had planned on debuting originals, but life has a funny way of happening. Despite the ebbs and flows, 2020 has provided me with more opportunities to grow, both as an individual and as an artist, than I ever could have imagined being possible. Throughout this year, I've been juggling finishing up my senior year of college and working towards making music that I truly identify with, and while this has deemed challenging, it has only reinforced the ways I look forward to applying my knowledge & skills when I complete my degree.

Within my free time, I’ve been really tapping into the cathartic and soothing properties of music. For me, this has meant rediscovering the music that helped me through dark periods in my life, and then drawing upon those sources of inspiration in my own art. Something about the raw emotionality of hearing harsh vocals over melodies that give you goosebumps has always really spoken to me as much of life seems to be different manifestations of that type of bittersweet juxtaposition. With this set, I explore this concept in its various forms - ranging from lush, mesmerizing glitch-hop to the darker sides of deep dubstep & IDM (including some original music from yours truly). 

This is as much an expression of the feelings I have been encountering this year as it is an attempt at making sense of them. I hope that this set is as therapeutic for those that experience it as it was for me to put it together. Thanks for all your continued support, especially if you read this far!
