Bad time to die - single

Kataokas new single is dedicated to Kalle’s grandma Ruth. But it is also dedicated to allgrandmasout there, living or dead. It’s time we express our gratitude for their efforts in life. It’s time we thank them for our own existence. Women today still experience great gender inequalities. And our grandmas probably struggled with even more rigidand unequalstructures in society.Dance a little dance for them, they might not have danced as much as they’d wished they could. Sing a little song for them, they might not have been singing their way through life. The least you can do is to listen to Grandma and think of her for a little while.One of the things I loved the mostdoing as a kid was to sneak out of bed realearly and walk home to grandma Ruth. Those early mornings saw us playing word games for hours. A big encyclopedia lay on the table, grandma wore an old knitted beanie and she was drinking silly amounts of black coffee. There in the old wooden house of mountainside Funäsdalen, Sweden, my love of language was borne. As I grew older we spoke a lot. On the phone if we were apart (she lovedchatting away). If abroad I often wrote her and grandpa. Now it’s more than seven years since she passed away. Still I think of her and of our conversations. Grandma enjoyed music and she wasa singer in a choir in Stockholm for a long time. Now she’s got a song of her own.
