'Dead' or 'blank' sounds of old electrical equipment buzzing were used to construct this piece. These were collaged into 15-second loops which differed slightly each time.

Each switch on a '70s home-made Weather Satellite Digital Picture Processor was individually recorded and programmed into loops of 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 beats in a bar, then layered. A manipulated piano completed the piece.

The ambient pads are me harmonising with myself, then reversing and reassembling the recording until it turned to dissonance. The beat was created by hitting a piano stool with a wooden rod.

Presenting two previously unreleased tracks taken from the Sleepers/Apnoea sessions, in which a musical motif is torn in two directions. @Phirnis intricately builds strata upon strata of introspective swathes of sound, while Katarrhaktes takes the listener to an uncomfortable landscape of pounding, industrial horror.

A Cage

Katarrhaktes explores the unexplained, the boundaries of truth, the meaning of a linear perceptive existence, and other discourses via conceptual pieces of music which range from destructive, anarchistic dirges to structured, beautiful ambience.
