For fun, I recorded a my cover version of Khalid's song "Location"

We just did this as a second run through at band rehearsal, but I wanted to share it with you. It's a song that I originally wrote to have on my EP, but by the time we got in the studio- I had written Bittersweet, and we thought that song fit the vibe of the EP better. We're rehearsing it for the bands appearance at the Middle of The Map Fest in May.
It features awesome solos from John Hermes on keyboard and Braden Wallace on guitar.

This is me.
 
My parents always say that I showed a propensity toward performing, and I started at an early age. When I was five, I would ring a neighbor's doorbell- just to sing her a song. I took various acting and dance classes until I was eleven.. In the spring of 2010, my focus turned more towards singing and theater, so I started taking guitar and vocal lessons.
 
I spent the summer of 2011 in the heart of Hollywood, CA at the suggestion of my, then, theatrical agent. I went to acting lessons through Joey Paul Jensen (who, among other things, was the Casting Director for the movie Soul Surfer that was in theaters that spring). I took commercial acting classes, attended a handful of acting camps through Actorsite.com and read in front of nearly 30 casting directors. While in LA, I also took private guitar and vocal lessons from an independent recording artist by the name of Terra Naomi.
 
In Early 2013, I was "discovered" by Tony Locascio when I, accidentally, walked in on guitar lessons that he was giving at The Refuge in Overland Park, KS. Tony invited me to perform at a handful of concerts that were held at The Refuge until it closed it's doors in the summer of 2013.
 
I was selected to be one of 25 Kansas City students to participate in the GRAMMY Music Revolution Project that took place over the course of a month during the summer of 2013. As a participant, we worked in groups on song composition, arranging, production, and marketing. I even recorded one of my originals at Westend Recording Studio in Kansas City, MO. The session culminated with us performing on stage at The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
 
Tony invited me to volunteer as an assistant at Rock School KC - teaching other kids to play guitar, ukulele, and basic piano. Through Rock School KC, I have performed sets at The Great Mall of The Great Plains in Olathe, KS and The Groundhouse Coffee Shop in Gardner, KS. I left working there in April 2015.

On my own, I have played several places around the greater Kansas City area.
 
 In August of 2014, while participating in a recital of students and instructors at a local coffee shop- I was approached by Michael "Seven" Summers, a producer at Strange Music- (an independent label here in Kansas City that was co-founded by rapper Tech N9ne). 

 Initially, he discussed the prospect of having me write songs for the daughter of Travis O'Quin (the other co-founder of the label) and a band that was yet unsigned. Though nothing had yet to come about, as far as writing for these other acts- I was given an opportunity to write a hook for Tech himself. I produced a demo of the hook, and it was presented to Tech. He loved it- so I went into Strange Musics' studios in December, and recorded a vocal track of the hook. The song called "A Certain Comfort" appears on Tech N9nes' "Special Effects" album. 

 Since then, I've also written and recorded the hook and bridge on Prozak's "House of Cards" off his Black Ink album.

I am also featured on Tech N9ne's Album The Storm. The song "Hold On Me" contains a couple verses from one of my previously written originals.

 Mr. Summers was looking to have me collaborate with him in developing my own unique sound- and expressed a desire to have me write and record some tracks.  Though it doesn't appear that will be developing any further, I do hope to do more work with Seven and Strange Music.

 In February 2015, I was selected to be an official showcase performer at the Folk Alliance International annual conference.

I released my self produced EP Bittersweet in October 2016.
