the blue just clings to the earth, it's embedded within some atmospheres. 
you could tell that the bitter cold you'd just been in was the same way that i am feeling. 
you told me that numbing it doesnt work, but i just had to force a change of scenery.
you showed me photos of the torched earth of lava fields, i know that barren misery.

you described being underneath the ice sheets
i know that numb translucency 
you showed me photos of the snow peaked mountain tops
ive just crawled out of my creased bed sheets. 

there is more for me
it takes a friend like you to remind me

iceland

water can be rain licking your face awake, but when its ice it can carve through rocks
everything ebbs and flows it passes through different states of change. 
your sadness is never locked.

my pathetic fallacies are so vain. they remind me that cycles slow but they dont stop.
i read in the news that they've resurrected the woolly mammoth. the madness just goes on and on and on and on

for the women in my life, thanks for your wisdom and strength. 

mercury's in retrograde and i'm still in pain, i came off all the things that were making it darker in my brain
i need to peel back the layers, find whatever haunts these veins, this pain we shouldn't suppress, we need to investigate 
why even when i'm at home, there's a darkness in this soul 
why even with a full heart i just fall into a dark hole
drowning in how little i know

these planets, they've planned it 
i learnt that from the witches who began this
my ancestors were burnt in tar for their craft 
for love do we really have to sacrifice our craft?

in fluxus with the full moon, i menstruate 
it reminds me we're all pawns in the cosmos game 
gender is not genital, that's a fact we can't escape
that's why i feel so sure when it's solitude that i crave
because it broke my soul sat waiting for him to come home
i'm a loose atom let me be free to roam
let me figure out all there is to know

my mother traced it out in the stars for me 
last night Jupiter so silently reminded me 
you can live vicariously through me 
i may have inherited your pain but it's what drives me

it's a chain of information
ive seen these pursed lips down all three generations
but the fragments arent reforming
the potted history of mum

i lit a candle for you in the church spires i know that you adore
it only means a thing to me cause it means the world to you

its all so cyclical 
i see your forehead fall
when you realise that its me whos got so tall

sugar and cream on starwberries turn into moudly milk in a million cups of tea
they're left cold as your days begin to fold into spikes of hosility
but its know its not you its just
the residue left by a callous brute
a generation taught to carry a child so that one day that child will carry you

twenty lost years that whirl so fast over you

Potted History of Mum
