Traxsource LIVE welcomes Sirus Hood & Manda Moor to the decks to this week. Founders of the imprint, events and clothing brand Mood Child. Sirus Hood's influences are rooted in the 80s-90s Chicago House movement, taking sounds from the warehouse scene to balearic vibes of Ibiza. His first releases on CUFF (2014) and Dirtybird (2016) kickstarted his career directly into the spotlight. He's also had massive releases on Rawthentic, Cajual, Sola, Under No Illusion and more! 

Paris Based artist Manda Moor is a Danish-Filipino DJ & Producer. She's landed her productions on labels such as Hot Creations, Tamango, Afro Acid and Kaluki. Her sound ranges from Techno to House and she's performed on some of the biggest dance floors including Amnesia Ibiza, Elrow, Hi Ibiza to name a few. After two critically acclaimed volumes of their producer-driven compilation series Tempo Dreams, Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings is back with Volume 3 of the beat-centric, forward looking concept. For this edition, the label has tapped Soul Clap, the Boston bred international ambassadors of all things funky.  Piloting their cosmic mothership all over the globe, Soul Clap have built a cult following worldwide both through their solo endevaors and via their Crew Love brand formed with Brooklyn’s Wolf+Lamb. Staying with the Tempo Dreams theme of showcasing new styles,  emerging artists and the best of their beatmaking  peers, Soul Clap has compiled a showcase of entirely unreleased modern funk, electro soul, and leftfield house music on this compilation, sure to make their spiritual guide Dr. Funkenstein aka George Clinton proud. 

As in with previous volumes, the featured artists all come from different places, spaces and times but are tied together by the musical connection running concurrent on the record. Soul Clap’s unmistakable vibe is powerfully  represented through their own original track “So Sedated”, a heavy chugging synth ode to the transformational powers of the dancefloor, featuring understated vocals by Dayonne Rollins.  Crew Love & Dirtybird artist Tanner Ross teams up with Jules Born for “No 1 Else But You”, a late night off-kilter piece of nasty funk, while fellow teammate Navid Izadhi brings a Cali swagger with the smoothed out G-Funk vibes of “Cadillack”.  The left coast is further represented by Pasadena’s XL Middleton whose “AntiSlumper” kicks off the album with a throwback boogie excursion, while the George Clinton-approved production team FSQ delivers the irresistible down & dirty “Break The Funk”. Amsterdam artist Tom Trago comes in tough with the electro porn of “Hard Cash” while NYC is represented fully with disco hero Tom Noble’s “Tanked”,  Analog Player’s Society’s wavey “Enter City”, and Greg Paulus’s late night soul vibes on “Everything (Love Down)”. 

Soul Clap Presents: Tempo Dreams Volume 3 arrives March 30 on 2xLP, CD and digital worldwide via Bastard Jazz Recordings, prefaced with a limited edition 7-inch double single in stores February 24th.

Rising Spanish talent Tete De La Course makes a massive statement with his new single on Poetry In Motion titled 'Your Love Keeps Me Hangin' On', dropping a vocal house cut with an infectious piano melody that is primed to be a timeless dancefloor anthem.

The track is the first original piece to be released on Poetry In Motion, the label Tete De La Course co-runs with four others. It also sees the artist dig back to his roots, focusing on the essence of classic house.  As the label describes, this track "will make you dance and sweat waving your hands in the air as if you were in the Loft in NYC, swimming through the balloons with a huge smile on your face." Sounds about right!

Truesoul continues 2019 in stunning form, with a fantastic original from Riva Starr and a trio of classy remixes from the Italian master’s ‘Curveballs’ album. 

Almost 15 years deep into his career and the Napoli-born, London dwelling Riva Starr (aka Stefano Miele) remains one of electronic music’s most eclectic selectors, his production repertoire encompassing house, techno, breakbeat and beyond. Making his debut on Truesoul in 2017, his contributions include a memorable collaborative EP with Tiger Stripes titled ‘Sound of the Bettest’ and his fourth album ‘Curveballs’ released in October 2018.

Such is the high regard Adam Beyer holds Riva Starr, that it wasn’t long before a return to Truesoul was on the cards. ‘Jill Wears Black’ leads the package, a masterclass in fleetfooted dynamics as multi-layered strings, undulating bass and punchy percussion rub shoulders throughout the six-minute cut. An inspired composition that’s already highlighted Resistance in Ibiza, Elrow and a host of festivals throughout the summer months.

On the remix front, Truesoul has recruited three of the finest to remix Riva’s ‘Curveball’ originals. Drumcode mainstay Layton Giordani steps up for his first Truesoul outing since 2016, reworking ‘The Hole’ into a throbbing peak-time weapon. Marquis Hawkes, one of the Italian’s favourite producer of late, also joins the project, delivering a glistening, spacey interpretation of ‘Piknik’. Firebrand Harvey McKay delivers a trademark powerful re-rub of ‘Disco Loco’, taking the synths of the original and jacking up the intensity to bring it into peak-time techno territory.

Two Hot Creations titans will team up with a renowned singer-songwriter next month, as Lee Foss, Detlef and Anabel Englund collaborate on the two-track Thunder & Lightning. Set for release on 20th November, the EP marks the trio’s debut collaboration and sees Lee and Anabel return to the label for the first time in six years.

Thunder & Lightning sets the tone, with hard-hitting drums residing atop a subtle underlying bassline. House heavyweight Detlef has amassed a worldwide following in a career spanning nearly a decade. A previous Beatport Number 1 record holder for Swagon, this year marked a particularly special milestone with the launch of his own label, Issues. Such a feat simply adds to the Greek-natives illustrious reputation, having cemented his place in electronic music with stunning releases on the likes of Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars, Relief and Moon Harbour to name a few. Anabel Englund has had a huge year with a #1 US dance record for 8 weeks in a row, So Hot (MK & Nightlapse Remix).

She currently has a solo release, Picture Us sitting in the top 10 in Dance Music Radio with support from many major players including SIRIUSXM Diplo's revolution, iHeartRadio, Music Choice, Pride Radio, Dance Factory Chicago, Nexus Radio and more.
