I was seven when my father introduced me to Michael Jackson. At thirteen, I owned my first copy of the Dangerous album. I would sit for hours in my room, letting “Remember the Time” wash over me like sunlight on my skin. It wasn’t just a song — it was a portal. Every beat carried me back to my village, to the laughter of my childhood, to the feeling of freedom before life got complicated.

Michael Jackson wasn’t just an artist to me; he was the blueprint of everything I wanted to become. The way he sang, the way he danced, the way he lived — it made me believe that music could make you infinite. I practiced his moves, learned to moonwalk (not perfectly, but with all my heart), and tried to decode the magic in his voice. I didn’t realize it then, but Michael was quietly shaping the way I would one day breathe music into everything I create.

There’s another memory I carry with me — I was sixteen, standing in a small choir, singing “We Are The World.” The audience erupted, calling for an encore, and for the first time in my life, I felt what it meant to move people with music. That feeling never left me. It was Michael’s influence, whispering through me even when I didn’t notice.

“Remember the Time” has always been sacred to me. It’s the first song that made me want to become more than just myself. It made me want to become a storyteller, an interpreter, a force. Every time I hear it, I am back in my youth, barefoot in my village, dreaming of stages I hadn’t yet seen.

Recording this reinterpretation has been more than making a cover — it has been a return to my roots and a promise to my younger self:

It carries my father’s love for his music, my uncle’s passion, my childhood memories, my dreams, and my gratitude for the artist who taught me what it means to become infinite through song.

Michael Jackson is gone, but this is my way of saying I still hear him. I still dance with him. And in this song, I let him sing through me.

This is not just a cover.
This is me remembering the time.
