The word Ceraunophile describes someone who is obsessed with thunder storms and lightening, like myself. I've always found storms as comforting and beautiful, but powerful and fearsome. Nature has always been something I've respected, admired, and feared, and I strive to know more about it the older I become. This piece is a musical description of what I experience synesthetically during a storm and I hope my listeners are taken on a deeper journey inside of nature's wonders.

Atelophobia, the fear of imperfection, is something all of us can relate to. And the only way to overcome it is to accept and love who you are, even if that means you are weak. We all have to grow from somewhere, so the more you honestly own up to your fears and anxiety, the more you will realize what it has to say.

A native San Antonian, Katelyn Petersen (b. 2000) is a musician, artist and composer currently based in Dallas, TX where she completed two Bachelor of Music degrees in Composition and Cello Performance at the Meadows School of the Arts.

With multi-sensory inspirations from synesthesia and a strong influence from film scores, Katelyn’s original music evokes literal colors and textures of sound. Her focus on chamber music is expanding to larger works and interdisciplinary projects, including an upcoming premiere by the South Texas Symphonic Orchestra in Fall 2022.

Katelyn’s composition teachers include Xi Wang, Lane Harder, and Robert J. Frank. She is also a proud cello student of Andres Diaz and Kenneth Freudigman.
