I definitely had her in mind while recording this mix, which includes a few tracks from beloved friends, as well as an upcoming track from my label by the enormously talented Tibia. Banoffee Pies Original series continues with a long overdue welcome to the label for Xades (pronounced shades), the Berlin based Artist, Producer, Vocalist, already known under her DJ moniker MSJY. The Femme Bass Mafia co-founder operating for the last 8 years across Europe, with a previous residency at Amsterdam’s De School Club, and further affiliations with the likes of Dekmantel and OOST. As Jenny’s career and musical output continues to flourish, the Xades project sets the foundations as a space for measured sonic reflection, and acts as a portal to connect  to their surroundings under a lens of sensitivity.

Original production “Qlu” gives us a taste of the dynamic, sharp and playful spectrum of sounds that culminate in a uniquely euphoric composition with the perfect touch of dub tinged electronica.

Two remixes take opposing directions, with an intricately chaptered bass weight twist from sound design enthusiast /  Body Verse founder Kate Miller, and a hybrid rhythmic club cut from recently affiliated label signing Syz. BPR x

Aussie Kate Miller is one of our favourite DJs at the Stora Skuggan HQ - her diverse online radio sets are often played in the studio - naturally we were delighted when she said yes to joining our scented mix series. Aside from being a DJ, Kate is also a composer, sound designer and foley artist for film and other media; something that does not go unnoticed as her two hour (!) selection unfolds. Kate has created a mix playing with all your senses, exploring hidden sonic crevasses and subterranean pulsating rhythms. Enjoy!

Kate Miller at Organik Festival 2023

@dj-fulltono is a visionary in the genre of footwork. Having had an enormous influence on the shaping and evolution of the genre in his home country Japan, his sonic explorations have long since spread and continue to influence the footwork community worldwide. His minimalistic yet dense, shuffling, shifting, polyrhythmic beats drift, slip and catch up with themselves, keeping every dancer on their toes. His releases on Exit Records, Booty Tune as well as collaborations with Skip Club Orchestra are some of the most unique and forward thinking productions in the genre. Much to our chagrin many of this prolific producer's productions remain unreleased but luckily for us this mix, which was recorded live at Compufunk in Osaka in 2023, is a treasure trove of his secret gems. Enjoy this 90 min journey through DJ Fulltono's unique mind and captivating rhythms.

Sarcus Soundsystem is a trio of French DJs including Ubik, Jacky Jeane and OLGA B. Together they founded the gorgeous and lush Sarcus Festival. As a DJ trio they cruise around dubby techno, tribal rhythm, drum 'n' bass, electro and UK sounds, the three of them emphasize deep and mystical atmospheres to make a journey out of the DJ set. I was absolutely enthralled by their performance at Sarcus Festival back in 2022 and have been hoping to have them on the mix series ever since. Finally, here is their 2 hour take over of Body Verse, Sarcus style.

In Regolith is Kieran Welch's debut solo single. Composed by Tilman Robinson, the work epitomises Kieran's unique genre-blend of contemporary classical, experimental electronica, and adventurous club music. Recorded in the USA by the legendary Todd Reynolds in 2019, this release has been years in the making. To celebrate, Naarm/Berlin sound artist and DJ Kate Miller provides a perfectly complementary remix specially for the release.

Paris-based DJ @joanna-oj is known for her eclectic style, blending glitchy ambient, frenetic bass, sexy footwork, and chaotic techno, creating a deep, immersive journey. The @retreatradio resident takes a darker turn in this mix, guiding listeners through shadowy, hypnotic rhythms and cerebral basslines.

BSRMIX #155 - Kate Miller

traverse is proud to announce the release of its first record - a compilation of six tracks from various artists, inspired by Pembroke King’s poem moving silhouettes, written for this occasion.

As the fourth volume of the compilation series “traversée”, moving silhouettes encourages artists to explore all corners of listening music and creative avenues that aren’t tied to any one convention. 

Pembroke King’s poem sheds light on the mood of the compilation, and even though each artist brings its own interpretation of it, there is a beautiful harmony of it all - from Kate Miller’s atmospheric sounds to Teqmun’s drums-made-of-rain-drop-recordings or Ghjuliú’s nostalgic melodies, the listener travels around Pembroke’s words with each track. 

As our first physical release, we feel honoured to collaborate with artists who have been involved in a way or another on traverse before such as Officium, Mika Oki and Alohn, but Kate Miller, Teqmun, and Ghjuliú, that we’ve been keeping close to our heart for a long time already.

Premiere: Kate Miller - Fenced Fringes | traverse

Kate's debut EP 'Sprint' celebrates and cements a genre-fluid ethos with four tracks where texture and atmosphere take precedence over convention.

The EP’s opener ‘Harpan’ is a bold ambient statement, brimming with otherworldly, bell-like piano riffs, humming pads, long, gliding sweeps and sparse percussion. Written in the stillness of winter, ‘Harpan’ captures the quiet beauty of solitude and anonymity amid movement. The title track ‘Sprint’ shifts gears. A synth-surge launches the track before a slow release into breakdowns, trading the opener’s introspection for unbridled motion. ‘Hoover’ deepens the momentum with lurching rhythms, a drunken bassline, and tangled, footwork-inspired snares. Finally, ‘The Embrace’ delivers the most club-focused moment, rattling congas and panning djembes ride a punchy kick, giving way to a dramatic, techno-infused finale.

Intentional in its construction and unbound by genre, Sprint marks a powerful new chapter for Kate Miller.

Cairo-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer and live performer @azemad is an artist whose sets span from club cuts to introspective vocal work and lush melodic textures. His 2022 EP Afriki on Berlin’s @awkscl showcases a unique fusion of sharp percussion, moody verses and brooding basslines, a sonic palette rooted in emotional depth and cultural hybridity.

Azemad’s work is defined by curiosity, warmth and boundaryless exploration. This Body Verse set is no different, a personal and kinetic transmission from an artist whose practice is as technically detailed as it is deeply felt.

We’re beyond excited to share a brand-new 90-minute mix from Narathip, a long-time friend and supporter. From his days working with Dekmantel to building his ever-inspiring Rhythmic Culture platform, Narathip has consistently championed forward-thinking sounds and community-driven projects, something we’ve always connected with. It feels special to host him here with a mix that captures his signature flow: syncopated percussive bass, half-time/double-time momentum, and cutting-edge sound design tied together with groove and finesse. Big love for everything he brings!

Red Light Radio with Kate Miller October 15 2018

It was local word of mouth that elevated Australian @katemiller from local to international notoriety. Her ability to fluidly jump genres and eras always leaves dance floors in a spin, and after emerging in Melbourne she followed the music to Berlin when she eventually became resident at the Oscillate party at ://about blank. Those sets allowed her the freedom to explore and pick up a fan base, and now she is someone who tells long and winding stories, with selections and feelings that define her sets more than tempo or technicality.

The 90 minute session Kate lays down for us is perfectly warm and rhythmic. It's united by rubbery kicks and deep, warm sub bass, but ever changing kick patterns and synths that range from absorbing and ambient to dark and paranoid always keep things moving. It is the sound of a DJ who is always in control, a masterclass in tension and release that means you're always on the edge, excited for what is to come.
