Tobhi and Dan's Imperfect Proposal

This is the first of a 2 part documentary that I produced for Radio National's Earshot program (link below). 
In 1990, my school friend's mother Irene was murdered on a farm just outside the small country town where I grew up. This event, and the weeks that followed, have always haunted me. In this radio documentary I go back to my hometown, and try to understand what happened that day, and the impact Irene's death had on myself and my community.

The Pool- Ian Thorpe

The 1965 Freedom Ride is a watershed moment in Australia's recent history. For Indigenous activist Charles Perkins the segregation of the Moree Pool was a potent symbol of the exclusion of Aboriginal people from the rest of Australian society. His daughter Hetti Perkins tells us the story of his journey on the Freedom Ride that established a new social frontier for equal rights for Aboriginal people. She also talks about the continuing importance of pools in rural and remote indigenous communities today.
