Cicada is the name of an insect that makes a very familiar summer sound. I used this sound in the first version of the track as percussion but I eventually removed it as it was taking too much space. Every track that I make starts with an intention that is quite different from the outcome and sometimes even the founding elements are replaced. In this case, the cicada sound inspired me in the entire process but was no longer needed when the track could live by itself.

Ninon Corpet is a friend of mine. She’s not a professional singer but I thought that her voice would fit well with the universe of this track. Ninon’s high pitched voice matches with the fairy-like atmosphere that I wanted to achieve for Cicada.

This is the only Phaune track with a voice. I spontaneously write only instrumental music. I like voices but I’m not very comfortable using them and I don't write lyrics. But this time, it just felt like the thing to do. Also this track has a certain pop feeling I think. It is therefore drifting a bit away from my universe.

I wanted to create a “funky forest” feeling. I like when music feels inhabited with living forms. This is where my alias comes from. Electronic music is a great way to create fantasy worlds that you can populate with funny creatures. Though the sounds refer mostly to vegetal stuff, some of them sound like animals to me.

Nachdem man seit der Jahrtausendwende nicht realisieren wollte, dass ich meinen Cannabiskonsum beendete, durfte ich meine Mutter nicht in ihrem Rollstuhl zur Beerdigung meines Vaters schieben, sondern ein Günstling sollte das tun. Der Pastor dort schnitt mir eine Grimasse, eine Freundin meiner Mutter behauptete, ich würde sie nicht mehr kennen. Die Günstlinge besassen dann noch die Unverfrorenheit, anzufragen, ob sie zusätzlich zum zu erbenden Haus, dass sie bekommen, gegebenenfalls noch meinen Lottogewinn obendrauf bekommen. Der Zeitpunkt war gekommen, endlich den Austritt aus solcher Glaubensgemeinschaft zu vollziehen.

Analog tastes better. The artist "Alles Andrs" gives a clear statemanet with his new EP. Instead of pre-assembled Sample Packs, he starts at the substance, records his environment himself and tranformes it all to an artwork with a very own taste. Once he uses the cry of an eagle, once the singing of a friend. The swoosh of a river and the noise of a street in a city are used, too. The dull hit of a wooden piece gives the base for the kickdrum and therefore the basic structure of the Tracks. Together with percussions and harmonics out of analog synthesizers and the whole records out nature and environment, a very special atmosphere is created, completely analog!
Additional Andreas gets powerful support from some partners. On the one hand from HELMS. He delivers a slowdown Version from "Lost in Space". The intensive dynamic and the great build up of suspence just gets you to move on. The second Remix is made from the two labemembers Emmrich & Voelker. A new interpretation from "Aquila". The Track persuades with his technoid structure and a clear warm bassline and just gets you to dance immediately.

This is the opening track and I just wanted to pay homage to Nas the best way I could while also giving fans what they can expect from me. Something very lyrical while at the same time something very substance driven.
