This June, Daniel Jaeger and Andrea Ljekaj bring their fresh perspectives to Cook Strummer's standout 2020 single 'Rising'.

The original of ‘Rising’ was part of the Words Don't Come Easy Vol. 7 compilation and aimed to get dancers in a state of transcendence. First up to remix it here is Berlin's Daniel Jaeger, a respected artist with an impactful sound on labels like Criminal Bassline, Katermukke and Bar 25 Music. He retains the warmth and organic feel of the original, but layers in an elastic bassline that gets you moving. The filtered vocals have a mournful edge, while the synths rise up and down the scale to bring a sense of hope.

Andrea Ljekaj is one of Croatia's most accomplished artists. Since 2019 he has run Croatia Gets Physical, which unearths and promotes the best new artists in his homeland. He also releases on this label, Oddity and Elrow, and has a powerful sound that often comes tinged with dancefloor euphoria. His expressive, textured take on 'Rising' has a darker feel, with pained vocals and prickly percussion churning over a menacing baseline. It's a gritty track that brings a freaky vibe to the floor.

These are two very different but equally essential remixes.

After our first label release “Boko Boko” hit the dance floors with its playful energy, we are now ready with our second release. For this special occasion we have invited our friend Avocado to join the fun. Hailing from the vigorous city of Cologne, Avocado is known for his bouncy and vibrant sound, which has led him to release on labels such as Katermukke, Heinz Music and Criminal Bassline. 

For his track “Jardin De Los Deseos”, Avocado has joined forces with the talented Pájara. They deliver a tune that is a solid bundle of drive. A naughty bassline rolls along the impeccable percussive work to create a phenomenally catchy groove. Slow-building synths underline the soft and salacious vocals from Pájara, giving the track its exquisite edge. 

Joining in on the fun is Thailand based DJ and producer Vakabular. In true Vakabular-style he puts an individual spin to the track while skilfully working around elements from the original. He introduces a blend of progressive and disco vibes while keeping it groovy, with powerful synths and a funky spirit.

Last but definitely not least, is the remix by one of the label bosses, Daniel Neuland himself. Daniel brings a heavy hitting interpretation to the table that stomps and boulders its way forward. A rogue bassline is accompanied by perky percussive work and dark synths, a move that has become somewhat of a signature sound of his.

As soon as the lights on the dance-floor went out there was a stir through the club. Word was out that old Acid Cow had a strange dream the previous night and wished to speak about it it to all the other animals. This old fellow was so highly regarded that everyone was ready to lose an hour’s sleep in order to know what happened. The animals began to arrive and make themselves comfortable one by one.

First arrived the mountain cow Debal Sommer, followed by the Falling Cows, who settled down in the straw right in front of living legend Attila Manju. In the meantime Timboletti perched himself on the window-sill but then fluttered up to the rafters, Frech & Koch lay down behind golden gated Didier Dlb and Breger with his robs and began to chew the cud. The cows from Langegarden came in together, walking very slowly and setting down their vast hairy hoofs with great care. All the animals were now present except Aphe, who trapped voices behind the sub woofer. Ich bin mit der Voll Schön Crew, der Rummels Bucht & dem Süss war gestern verbunden.
Alle versuchen das Beste aus der Situation zu machen und lassen den Kopf zum Glück noch nicht hängen. Es ist nun mal leider so wie es ist und man arrangiert sich bestmöglich damit.  Am Anfang gab es durch die Crowdfundingaktionen Unterstützung. Das Süss hat dann mit dem außer Haus Verkauf gestartet und darf nun langsam unter strengen Bedingungen mit Sitzplatzvergabe öffnen. Die Bucht hat den Biergarten richtig schön ausgebaut und verkauft seeehr leckere Pizza. Was aber allen aus der Branche fehlt ist eine Perspektive. Wann und unter welchen Bedingungen ist wieder was möglich? Es gibt immer noch keine klaren Aussagen dazu und dadurch kann niemand in die Zukunft planen. Ich bleibe aber positiv und hoffe, dass es nach und nach weiter voran geht!

Den Club Anderswelt gibt es bereits nicht mehr. Im Hamburger Gängeviertel sieht es ebenfalls nicht gut aus, irgendwann sind so Förderungen (wenn man sie denn bekommt) auch ausgeschöpft. Und die Möglichkeit wieder Veranstaltungen und Getränkeverkauf stinknormal machen zu dürfen ist noch ganz weit weg.
Das tut natürlich langfristig weh im Portemonnaie. Nicht nur für uns. Wir machen viele Soli-Parties normalerweise für „Ende Gelände“ oder die „Seawatch“. Diese Art der indirekten finanziellen Hilfe fällt nun auch dort weg, das ist tragisch!
Gesellschaftlich betrachtet funktionieren Kollektive einfach in live super und digital richtig schlecht. Man muss die Leute über Jitsi bei der Stange halten und den Mut und Optimismus nicht verlieren. Und das über einen langen Zeitraum.
