'After a wide range of beautiful autumn releases, Heinz Music is now ready to introduce to you a 4-track EP by the Danish artist duo The Hunts and their close friend Jakob de Wittig. Hailing from Copenhagen, these two found each other through their love for music, a partnership that has lead to many beautiful dance floor moments, and now also four fantastic tracks ready to set sail along a magnificent remix by the label boss himself, Marcus Meinhardt. 

“Too Weird Not To Dance” is the title track. A driving groove immediately catches your attention leading you towards the weird world of synths and the dark vocals. Escalating sounds twist and twirl, building up massive momentum while the heavy, purring bassline hits right where it should.

Secondly, “Ride It” picks up the pace. Elegant drum work keeps the flow of the groove funky and catchy, and when the synth and whispering vocals enter the playground you know you are in for a ride. “Pastor Sovs” builds on quirky synths and a theatric vocal element that underlines the positive atmosphere of the track. On point drums build a solid base, but it is all about the fun in this one.

“Spank For A Dime” is an explosion of energy. It's driving and powerful bassline leads the way, while raw vocals and a savage synth is like a trip down the rabbit hole. There is just no knowing where this night is going to end. 

Marcus Meinhardt rounds up the EP with his take on “Too weird not to dance”. In a masterful showcase of molding original elements and making them your own, Meinhardt does what he does best. An enchanting and majestic tune thrills you with the longing synths and soft percussions, leading you into a fierce drop. It is a fury of emotions taking the lead, sending your soul straight into the night.

The track Ralle describes the encounter of Son Celeste with a person who has already experienced so many layers in life and in music, but who still loves to close his eyes on the dance floor and devote the full energy to the music, just like on the first day. The result is an atmospheric track which captures the listeners deep in the heart and results in goose bumps in heart shape.

While Iner's Dobro label has released a number of full-length projects, the majority have been compilations. This, then - a debut LP from Russian producer Stogov, known primarily for blending deep house and jazz in different ways - is a significant release for DOBRO. It's also rather good. Stogov begins by peppering a thickset deep house groove with attractive female vocalisations and fluid jazz guitars ('Imagine'), before opting for loose-limbed jazz breaks, bouncy house beats and Todd Edwards style sample cut-ups on 'Smooth Turn'. Deeper, drowsier and more garage-house leaning vibes are the order of the day on 'Everybody', 'Y're Free' is a classic-sounding slab of thickset US deep house headiness, 'Comeback' is woozy, skippy and delightful, and closing cut 'Shine' sounds like a tooled-up take on 'Boulevard'-era St Germain.

MOUTH TO MOUTH 10:

The original single came about during a very productive week for me. I made 5 songs in in 7 days right before one of the early DEMF festivals in Detroit. There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then, and I had just returned from a two week tour of Europe where I was ingesting so much new music. I sat down at my studio in Detroit and tried to recreate what I was hearing in the clubs. Mouth to Mouth was the stand out track of that session, and I made the entire thing in a few hours. I recorded it mostly live, tweaking and building the synths and muting/unmuting the channels in real time and just recording the result. I cleaned it up a little bit afterward, but left the length and overall arrangement intact. I remember playing it for a few people right away and it was clear something special was happening. There is something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all. 

For this remix package, I chose every remixer. I went to my close friends, favourite remixers, and people I have always respected. There is such a diverse spread of talent with these artists, I knew every remix would be completely different. Each remix represents a different side of techno, which is where all of these artists come from. Everyone put a piece of themselves into this, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing to the project.

Hannes Bieger (@hannesbieger) is perhaps better known for his immense and highly regarded back catalogue as a mixing and mastering engineer on other people's records, as well as various other ‘behind the scenes’ technical gifts. Born in Hamburg and now living in Berlin where he runs his own production studio, this EP gives his talents as a house music producer space to shine - and that's exactly what it does. 

'Strato' kicks off the EP - a 9 minute journey into exquisitely produced and highly effective dance music - an epic dancefloor killer that could draw comparisons with masters such as Ame in terms of impact.

Rhyolite' is another extended dive into the house music hinterlands - a deep groove that gives a home to some incredible sound design that builds and builds throughout the track.

Ruede Hagelstein (@ruede) drops by to add his distinct flavours to 'Strato' for the third track on the release - taking it into even deeper zone - a stripped down, minimal yet emotive workout for the late night crews.

“Founded during a cold winter night on the island of Grimsey in Iceland, Abe’s focus and aim is to create and conserve timeless moments through their music. Like a formation of Northern Lights that reveal themselves to their spectators, the music of Abe is developed outside of our modern world and its regulations. It’s dark and soulful techno, both simple and complex.

The title track “Our Land” kicks things off on a lavishly transcendental note, with layers of sounds craftily filling the complete frequency spectrum. A bass heavy synth melody and crisp, precise hats compliment each other skilfully, whilst the drums and effects used provide the piece with a much-appreciated organic feel. The over eight minute composition morphs and builds without being obtrusive and is sure to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide.

Next up is the menacing “Black Horse”, which boils gently until it erupts for an ultimate peak time climax. Here we see Abe focusing on the darkest side of their work, fusing a howling bassline with a thrilling arpeggiated melody, energetic shakers and a distinct midrange synth motif. The vibrant percussion and shadowy atmospheres are sure to elevate crowds whenever played on a finely tuned sound system.” – Sinners
