I composed "Together" for my musictheatrical performance "The Runaway Girl" which is based on the autobiographical book “Ein Kind” by Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard (translated into Dutch by Ria van Hengel, published by Uitgeverij Vleugels under the name “Een kind”), in which the complexity of Bernhard’s relationship with his mother is expressed.
The Runaway Girl tells the story – in contrary to the book – from the perspective of Bernhard’s mother who – unintentionally pregnant after an affair – “escaped” to the Netherlands to give birth to her child.
Bernhard’s literary principles, such as constant repetition of words and specific text rhythms, also find their way into my compositions/performance.

Aks Sado ("Reflection of sound") is a piece by Uzbek composer Jakhongir Shukur written for Katharina´s project cellomondo: composers from all over the world and their students contribute to a concert programme in which the richness of their individual background as well as the expressive power of the cello are used to their full extent.

Katharina Gross - Of This Morning

Agni was written in 2017 by Thai composer Patiparn Jaikampan (1991) for Katharina´s cellomondo project. 

"Agni" is the Sanskrit word for "fire". 
The piece was inspired by the power and energy of fire, which can ignite destroy, and transmute.
"In this piece, I use the timbres of the cello combined with percussive sounds. In addition, multiphonics and harmonics are used to produce "hidden" references to a Thai pentatonicism. (Patiparn Jaikampan)

Kugelmensch is deel III van "Sehnsucht" - een solovoorstelling met cello en stem, rond een vrouw en haar gevoelstoestanden

Sehnsucht, een rijk en moeilijk eenduidig te vertalen begrip, kan pijnlijk en destructief zijn. Een vertwijfelde zucht naar een vervulde levenstoestand en liefde die niet te bereiken is kan leiden tot een gevoel van chronische onvervuldheid, eenzaamheid, depressie en zelfs waanzin.
De voorstelling Sehnsucht duikt onder in de menselijke gevoelswereld middels een magische wisselwerking tussen live cello en stem, en klanksporen waarin deze elementen een eigen leven leiden.
