The pandemic has been a trying time for us. There was one particular day in the Summer of 2021 we had to cancel a special date we had been looking forward to for weeks due to COVID, then one of our pipes busted and we had to call a plumber. I was waiting for the plumber to arrive and feeling deflated after so many rough circumstances, canceled dates, and missed connections between Jacob & I, so I began writing this song.

We've been married 15 yrs now and he's still the only one I want in my life - for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health - those vows have been tested more than others in the last couple years. But even if all our fancy date nights get cancelled and we're in a constant state of DIY, I still wouldn't want to be doing any of that with anyone but him. 

Date nights in the living room, simple dinners, and small budgets don't feel like settling when it's shared with the most precious person in the world.

I was able to record this song secretly with our friend Chuck Bell, who is halfway across the country in Georgia. He in his studio, and I recording into my iPhone ear buds in a closet at our church. I managed to keep the secret and gifted the song to Jacob for Christmas. He cried, so I feel like I did my job ;)

I hope this song can be a connection point for other couples who are also feeling the weight of pandemic life.
