Love Ain't Simple

This City is a song I wrote with Warren Huart about breaking free from hustle culture in Los Angeles and realizing what it means to be a human being alive breathing in the present moment.

The cities we build around the world are not just places to live, but rather a reflection of what's going on inside our minds. In a collective sense, this metaphorical "city" is really every individual's ego. All the memories of the past are stored in our houses, and the freeways we drive on a daily basis connect these places. The goal is to not get trapped in all this. Life is short.

We have two choices in the end: we can spend most of our time working 9-5 jobs or, try to find a sense of connection within ourselves and with other people! It means knowing that the city of memories created within ourselves is not who we are as people. We can just exist in the present.

Here's a live version of the Italian Song "Volare". I fused together the English lyrics from the Dean Martin version of the song with the original Domenico Modugno lyrics. There is a live version of this tune on Youtube from about 5 years ago. 

If anyone is interested in remixing this song, the original stems or downloading the master,  please email katie@katieferrara.com. 

I mastered this track using LANDR. It could still use a bit more mixing (crossfades on the breaths). I think the stems might sound great in a dance remix.

This song is about the struggles women around the world go through to have access to clean water. In many countries, women have to carry gallons of water for miles across dangerous terrain just to have something to drink or be able to bathe.
