“Blind Opening” is Katie’s debut album, made possible by supporters of a 2017 Kickstarter campaign. It is is a culmination of music and lyrics written and developed by Katie since 2008, and was recorded in the course of a two-day period at Winds Over the Earth studio in Longmont, Colorado, by sound engineer Daniel Herman (Mineral Sound: www.mineralsound.com).

The music on this album is inspired by Katie’s favorite songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, jazz pianist composer Thelonious Monk, and the piano compositions of Ravel, Stravinsky, and Chopin. The purpose of the album is to paint an auditory landscape for the listener to explore emotions they may often abandon in daily life and routine.
