Meet “Weird Magic level 104 demon summoner”, or Weird Magic for short. A bedroom producer from Brussels, inspired by experimental and genre-bending artists such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and µ-ziq. A typical Weird Magic song tends to be bass heavy, with lush pads and glitchy percussion. Often layered with crackling textures of animal sounds and obscure lo-fi samples that he gathered browsing on the forgotten side of the world wide web. He also depicts said animals in his unique drawings and ceramic sculptures.

We had the pleasure of taking you from the night into sunrise through many sub-genres in our record collection. It felt so good having the freedom to craft the set exactly how we wanted on a setup that had been perfectly tweaked by Lyra Audio + crew over the course of 2 days.   

We spent around 6 months planning this event. Everything from the lighting (@seanclarke) to the sound, personally applying for a TEN to use the space (that’s another story altogether) and how the event would run.
 
When you have all the these other variables running alongside an event it can be difficult to lock into the set at your own party but this time everything worked out and we’re really excited to share the memory of this special night. 

Thanks to everyone that made it down and helped in anyway, it’ll always stay with us, this one <3

Ada Kaleh is one of the most respected Romanian artists, with a reputation for creating timeless cuts that never leave a DJs record bag. Ada’s creative spark leaves much to the imagination of the listener. Each track comes with a story, with the tracks following on in a fluid movement.

A-side ‘Nedeslusit in amurg’ is characterised by its atmospheric vibe and distant vocals. The track is inspired by the whirling dance of the Sufi dervishes. The dervishes walk the desert for hours, maybe days. As the sun sets, in its twilight (“Amurg in Romanian”), a women holding a blue pot of water unfolds… 

B-side ‘Morgana avidoma’ is as memorable as the story behind it. A creative combination of fluid, driving basslines combines with snappy claps and extra-terrestrial synths. ‘Morgana‘ represents the women, always in the distance, always ‘nedeslusit’, yet always there, in front of your eyes, “avidoma”. She is indeed there, but only for us to see. 

What this EP represents is a snippet into the brain of Ada Kaleh. The hypnotic feel of the tracks mirror his memorising DJ and live sets. His music is as much a visual experience as an audio experience. It’s designed to make you dance but also to leave an impression…
