An album of 20 short piano improvisations, occasionally with sections repeated, Phil creates a completely spontaneous outpouring but with a powerful sense of rhythmic unfolding or storytelling that renders even trivial events, dramatic, momentous or pivotal. Nothing is planned or contrived but never whimsical or random. Just true! Phil uses improvised piano music to describe deep inner states - beyond the scope of language - and does so with real precision and clarity.

Iron is for Sandro and for the bearing witness. Sandro is a figure whose influence and sharing of different areas of knowledge, stayed with Levi throughout his life. Using a fragment of a folk song from the region Sandro alongside Levi’s own theme, creates this sharing, and emerges in various other movements.

Recorded in a studio overlooking the ocean as a tribute to the sight of the expiring sun falling slowly over the horizon at dusk, twilight is a sustained reverie that mirrors the dwindling rays of light at day’s end with its subtle variations in timbre and texture. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the iconic album will be available for the first time on vinyl and the re-releasing of the much sought after original first press CD + art book edition. Included in the reissue are 8 previously unreleased tracks recorded during the original sessions in 2010. Remastered by long-time collaborator Gen Tanabe, the reissue features artwork faithful to the original design with the addition of liner notes written by Toshhiko Terada of Ameto Kyujitsu.
