Based in Colombia’s capital, Bogotá, Felipe Gordon’s sound is testimony that both challenges and reinvigorates the burgeoning colombian house movement. His statement is built of resonances inspired by other decades, Bogotá, cold, streets and messy youth. It's not surprising when we hear pianos and classic acid house lines paired with jazz samples and funky bass lines. His ability to mix this complex sounds into club music has made Gordon into a renowned and prolific producer (Nomada, Toy Tonics, W&O Street Tracks, Sampling As An Art). One to watch. Nuff said. The crowd gathered to observe the terrain. Very soon bikers from all across the world would fly down these cliffs at lightening speed, it was no simple feat. The music blared ecstatically in the daylight glow. Great speakers stood perched overlooking the descent, designed to motivate and inspire. As the names of each rider rang out there was one whom had not nominated himself as present. He was an unknown outsider, untitled and unafraid. The race was on. 

Nicky Soft Touch delivers an energetic EP inspired by house and garage. He reveals four tracks on Foot Long Fun Plates purpose built for a summer club.

The A1 track on @felipe-gordon's new EP with @Quintessentials, (and our premiere), "Su Casa, Mi Casa", initiates with a shortly-looped keystab reminiscent of Purple Velvet's "Back On The Boulevard" and shuffling hats and claps. Shortly after, a low-hanging bassline and Spanish talking vocals join a jazzy run of piano licks, creating a nice midtempo house groove. It's a combo representative of the producer's aesthetic; syncopated and quirky beats mixed with hardware synths and jazz samples.

Deep house staple Axe on Wax are getting us prepped for summer. They’ve enlisted French producer JLMT, real name Jules Pastouché, to curate these breezy transitional vibes as we move on from this rainy Spring (at least here in Canada) to sunnier times. JLMT has had a few things out in the past, mainly a more jackin’ EP on L’Isérois and a couple of edits that have garnered some success. We’re pretty sure he also produced “Swoazy” on Groovence Records, which was listed as an unknown artist and is closest in vibe to what we’re presenting here today.

You’d be forgiven if you heard the EP and mistook the sound to be of Canadian origin. The lead synths, particularly on our premiere today and the A1, Coconut Trees, are reminiscent of earlier Project Pablo works. The chords are warm and mellow, perhaps reminding some of Vancouver’s Jack J and his solo work. The groove is steady and complements the melodic work, with a bit of French touch filtering going on just to remind us that this producer is indeed from France.

The rest of the EP is great as well and comes with remixes from Laurence Guy and Real J, but our pick is the A1 as it has us prepping for those daytime summer jams. Be sure to pre-order your copy and be prepared to hear this one become an ear worm this summer.

Interstate is finally back with a new EP called „Thinking You Me We“, released by the new founded
Label GARDEN OF ZEN Records (which Demuja’s new imprint) this June. „Thinking You Me We“ is the
first release of the label. Living in Bielefeld, Germany and making music since his teenage years, he
released his first tracks back in 2016 Interstate. Working with other artists and various collaborations
took him further to new genres, interesting projects and a bunch of releases on different respected
labels. His signature style is mostly a mix of groovy house rhythms with jazz and soul vibes, but Interstate never hesitates to try out new directions.
The EP combines house, soul & jazz elements and delivers dancefloor material as well as relaxing
downtempo stuff. The first track „Baby Wine Drinking“ features the talented sax player GucciPython
and gives you a jazzy house feeling, while the second track “Coral Keys” focusses more on drum and
percussion. The last track „Northern Lights“ brings the small EP to a calm end, making you daydream
with its vocals and slow beats.

One year has passed from his last release on the label and now, our main man is back with a bunch of new tracks full of good summer vibes. The title track is a tribute to Manipolato’s underground vocal house background when he was living in New York City lower east side as an active member of the local club scene. Featuring amazing vocals from a well-known house legend (can you guess who?) make sure to prepare your dancing shoes for a soulful journey back in time. The EP also features the Afro House influenced remix by DJ Thor and 2 more original tracks. Always Good Vibes with a Hard Twist!


MANIPOLATO (aka Latino Pellegrini) is an Italian DJ/Producer, musician, filmmaker and the founder of Defora Records. Active as a DJ since the late 90's in the New York scene, Manipolato's first EP “Medications” was released on vinyl in 2003 by Red Menace Records, with a dope remix by Gus Gus. Both behind the decks and in the studio, Manipolato delivers a unique blend of Techno, Deep & Tech House and Old School Grooves. His discography is also filled with several collaborations and remixes for artists such as Elisa, Anna Cavazos, Ricky Leo and Sound Shapes. In 2015 he founded his own label Defora Records with the main goal to create a growing family of talented artists from around the globe and to release only quality music for the dance-floor. Currently based in Italy, he’s an active figure in the local underground scene, as he continues to produce and to perform his music in clubs worldwide.
