🗯🗯 How would you describe your style? 🗯🗯

I would describe my style as emotional and energetic. It is melancholic and yet hopeful. I love these driving basslines with big dramatic breakdowns. When I play my sets I'm aiming for everyone to dance with happy tears in their eyes :’)

🗯🗯 Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona? 🗯🗯

I did gain something positive. As the club closed down I spent more time developing my music production skills. I set up a routine where I would write music on daily basis and I've since then been working on my sound and making and releasing music since the start of Corona.

🗯🗯 What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially? 🗯🗯

I grew up in a musical home where we would dance to Phil Collins and Diana Ross in the living room. My mum worked as the door hostess at the hippest Stockholm night club and was even working there pregnant with me. So I kinda was born surrounded by music, I guess.

When I was 8 I took piano classes and even exams in front of a panel of judges, but realised that being judged in music was not for me. 

The next time I was being judged for my music was when I entered a DJ competition in Stockholm in front of a panel of judges (including Pleasurekraft). This was, too say the least, nerve-wrecking. But I prepared well (with help from my mentor Studio 54 DJ ) and I won the competition. This led to me quit my job at Spotify and move to Barcelona to focus on music.

While in Barcelona I helped out the local techno hero Sergio Patricio ("the man who brought techno to Barcelona"). I was also resident DJ at one of the most infamous after-hours bars, Jesus house. I worked 5-10am 4-5 days a week. Those were some times...

At ADE Amsterdam, I got to know Robosonic. He helped me in making my decision to move to Berlin and let me be part of his crew. I now live in Berlin since four years. I play at most of the big clubs in Berlin (Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Ritter Butzke and KitKat). Unfortunately now the clubs are going into yet another lockdown (I am writing this while at home with Corona…), but I will make lemonade from the lemon we’re being given and use the winter to make music instead. And once the winter is over I’m sure we will get back on the dance floor again!

ST-ahler aims to spread joy through creating spacy and floating disco soundscapes. Moving from Singapore to Berlin in 2014 “cosmos-politan” ST-ahler discovered the decks in an escalated night of spaceships and zero gravity. Shortly after he started playing DJ sets at intimate events, house parties and various smaller venues, trying to make hoofers hover. His melodic house sets are appreciated for their danceable, yet wobbly and deep sounds infused with tasteful influences from the lively 80s to solid indie dance tunes, covering wide electronic frequency terrains.

Always with a self ironic smirk, ST-ahler focuses his energy on simply having a great time with music and friends balancing his way too serious fulltime job. “Music is my outer space where I am not taking myself seriously and can be the loopy kid with its head in the sky, I sometimes forget to be in our fast paced world.” Since 2018, Sascha is producing music under his artist name ST-ahler and released seven tracks until today ranging from deep house to disco. Behind the decks or in the studio it is his mission looking out for the next surprise to move crowds a little closer towards zero gravity.

Originally from lake Chiemsee near Munich, Quirin is now a Berlin-based Producer and DJ. Coming from a quite classical background with several years of piano and drum training in his youth, he got lost in electronic music at the age of sixteen. Working in Munich and Berlin clubs for quite some while complements his love for the music and scene.

Having artistic influences ranging from underground downtempo to faster dance vibes he’s trying to show his unique style mostly described as atmospheric and experimental with a big emphasis on dreamy percussions and driving baselines.

In the studio, you can mostly find him with his friend and flatmate @mantaberlin. They together also form the collective @vierviertelberlin.

Exactly today 20 years ago Watergate opened its doors for the very first time! 20 crazy years of Berlin club culture. Honored to be part of the anniversary celebrations. Closing the club with a 6 hour set after a turbulent show by maestro Maceo Plex in the main floor felt unreal.

Have a relisten of the 6 hours morning adventure with lots of new tracks by some (or since it is 6 hours actually a lot) of my fav artists and colleagues. Plus quite a few unreleased own tracks.
