Ecstatic Dance Dreamersland (Live DJ Set) [Downtempo]

An up-and-coming Saudi DJ, violinist and producer, Kayan is making a name for herself by weaving classic music with electronic beats. Her compositions - made up of organic rhythms and remixes of classics embellished with heavy basslines - form entrancing harmonies that offer an uncommonly cool assurance.

For our Select 245, the Riyadh-based DJ crafted a melodic, deep house set filled with haunting melodies, and soul-stirring violin arrangements accompanied by poignant opera-like vocals that will gently caress the soul. The set features an original track ‘Amnesia’, which is composed by Kayan herself, along with some eclectic tunes like ‘At Sunrise’ by Levasseur, and ‘Don't Even Let Up’ by Florian Kruse & Tesla Nix.

Select 245: Mixed by Kayan

I met NAJMA (THE BLUE LADY) during my performance for Habitas on New Year’s Eve, under one of AlUla’s most stunning rock formations. I was playing a selection of my original Saudi dub compositions, including an arrangement inspired by the melodies of the renowned Saudi artist Abdulmajeed Abdullah.

I’m happy to share with you segments of what transpired under that magical rock. This piece is inspired by Abdulmajeed’s song “Yabaadhom.”

About Najma:
NAJMA is a stunning sculpture by American artist and painter Lita Albuquerque, representing AlUla’s long connection to astronomy. She sits atop a boulder in the hidden valley and was designed for Desert X AlUla. She was inaugurated on January 31, 2020, in a special arrangement that reflects the alignment of the stars that night. My performance under NAJMA coincided with her inauguration date (31st). She always gave me a sense of calm and magic every time I saw her.

"نجمة" هي عمل فني للفنانة والرسامة الأمريكية ليتا ألبوكيرك، تمثل ارتباط منطقة العلا بالفلك. تم تصميم “نجمة” لمهرجان صحراء العلا الفني في 31 يناير 2020، و وضعت في وادي في صحراء العلا في اتجاه يعكس محاذاة النجوم في تلك الليلة. وتزامن أدائي في ليلة راس السنه تاريخ ٣١ مع تاريخ تصميمها. لطالما اعطتني نجمة احساس ساحر وهدوء كل مره اراها.

Kayan is a DJ, producer and musician based in Riyadh, where her passion for music was ignited and later formed the basis for her electronic sound journey. Her life experiences are compiled into the productions and performances that she creates today.
Every Kayan's live performance is different, unique and original as she blends organic grooves, soundscapes, beats, remixes, tracks, with a wide variety of samples combined with heavy basslines that spontaneously activate the dance floor.
Kayan is a sonic journey that interweaves human emotion and through sounds and mixed media, composing and performing live with layers of sparking electronic music creating hypnotic melodies and harmonies that resonate with the crowd.
