Appetizers is my labour of love, my first attempt at greatness, my adrenaline shot to the music industry and my debut release. 

It's a very conceptual project where I play the role of 'Chef Kay', cooking various meals (songs) for my customers (listeners).

Making this mixtape was both frustrating and rewarding. Some days I listened to certain records and marvelled at my own creations. Other days, I wanted to scrap and rewrite the entire project. 

In the end, I believe I made something truly worthwhile. For anyone listening & reading, I hope you feel the same way.

k.a.Y is a 24 year-old Nigerian rapper. His love of music can be traced back to his childhood, where it was not uncommon to find him imitating dance moves popularised by the late great Michael Jackson. 

As he grew older, his affinity for melody would fuse with a burgeoning love of poetry, ultimately leading him to the world of rapping and song writing. 

k.a.Y now writes rap records which feature vivid storytelling, social commentary and striking wordplay. His Nigerian heritage combines well with his English public school education, giving him a distinctive vocal inflection and a unique musical narrative.
