I've been continuing to record new shows weekly, but I'm finally back uploading and this week I pay tribute to one of the greatest producers of our time and a man I’m proud to know, Evil Needle. As the first person to get me into the future beat scene and Soulection back in 2012 through Tall Black Guy’s incredible Tempo Dreams Vol. 1 compilation it’s been amazing watching his growth since then. With a unique sound that blends bass lines and melodies in a way that is distinctively his, Needle has proven time and time again that when it comes to genres he can tackle anything. In this first volume of Essential Evil Needle we revisit some of his best R&B and Hip-Hop tracks, with a fair number of unreleased tracks he’s been working on recently.

Since I released All Knxwledge Mix back in 2014 people have been asking me to do similar mixes for other artists and so I’m proud to debut this as the first mix in my new Essentials series in which I compile my favourite tracks by some of my favourite producers. For our 38th installment of the Rusted Rhythms series, Rust family favorites pheel. and parkbreezy have resurrected their Featherbed set to showcase loads of original tracks and a few choice flips and remixes. Co-founders of the all.Lo label, and the brains behind the Morning Coffee project, these two producer/dj's have their fingers on the pulse of trip-hop's many varieties, creating their signature blends through an infusion head-nod fundamentals with ample servings of saturated bass weight.

Right from the jump, they zero in on the vibe of the hour, delivering smooth cuts of collaged melodies and brackish drum breaks. Their own individual styles meet at the nexus of broken beats and juiced-up sub frequencies, balancing the high of a listening experience with the pull of a physical experience. They were even gracious enough to mix in a Groovsauce track, courtesy of their live project with Thought Process.
