His path, however, was marked by early challenges. As an orphan, he found structure and spiritual grounding at the Little Ashram in Tarkwa, Ghana. It was here that the disciplines of yoga and meditation instilled in him a profound inner strength and a philosophy of peace that would later permeate his music. At the age of ten, he returned to Cape Coast and found his true calling upon joining the renowned musical and dance group "AGRO." This collective became his artistic family and training ground, where he honed his skills as a performer and composer.

Kayo Lyon’s sound is a meticulously woven tapestry, reflecting a lifetime of diverse musical inspiration. His early years with AGRO exposed him to the pioneering highlife and Afrobeat sounds of Ghanaian legends like Ebo Taylor, Papa Yankson, and K. K. Kabobo. The rebellious spirit and conscious lyrics of Reggae Dancehall icons such as Sizzla, Capleton, and Anthony B ignited his passion for music as a tool for empowerment and social commentary.

This foundation was further expanded by the monumental influences of global visionaries. The fearless, genre-defying Afrobeat of Fela Kuti, the soul-stirring messages of unity and love from Bob Marley, and the innovative blends of contemporary artists all converge within his work. Kayo Lyon’s talent as a songwriter and composer, first ignited during his time with AGRO, has flourished into an impressive and recognized international career. His debut album, 'Akumapa', co-produced with DJ Lt Irie, announced his arrival as a significant voice. This was followed by a steady stream of impactful projects, including the albums 'Love Eyes', 'We Rise', 'Kaboom', and 'New Chapter', each marking an evolution in his sound and message.

His critical acclaim has been solidified through numerous international awards. His 2021 EP 'Real Warrior' featured the YouTube hit "Tease Me," which earned him the CMA10 Award for Best Dancehall Song of the Year 2021, alongside the title of International Artist of the Year.
