The Master Mix Symphony

It all started one night on my way home from work. I listened to a track that I really liked (today I can’t really remember which one) and I analyzed the specific segment that I thought was spectacular. It sparkled my curiosity for creating a kind of set mixed with tiny “loops” of many songs.

A year later after finishing this experiment (you might think it’s pathetic or love it), I realize that maybe it isn’t exactly what I imagined at that moment. However, during the assembling process and at the end of production (it took me a year to execute between my day job, NSM PSM performances and the birth of my actual project: Wagoner), I had an amazing time. 

For me it was an interesting introspection exercise (as deep as this might sound) because it reflects a lot of me for many reasons: for all the music I like, because it describes my personality, my professional career and my production style. Because I think that if I die today and my life passed in front of me in “music version” this is what I imagine as my listening agony (if I had the fortune to be alive for 50 minutes to listen the whole set). 

Here are three technical data that I know geeks out there love: 

•	The set starts at a speed of 70 beats per minute and climbs to 150 BPM towards the end. 
•	I didn’t start at the “beginning”; I started producing it in parts and then assembled them in different moments of the set. 
•	I did it in two different Ableton Live sessions. Afterwards I united them and polished all the details in Pro-Tools.

 (I know that there are people that die to know these pieces of info).

Now it’s time for you to decide what this experiment means. It might be a collector’s item, a mixtape, or a compilation CD –the type they sell at the subway in Mexico City–.  Listen to it while studying, at a party or at work. Keep and preserve it as a collector’s item and, why not, play with friends to see who can decode each and every one of the approximately 440 tracks that are contained in the entire block.

It doesn't matter what you think of it or what do you use it for, the most important part for me (and the only think I ask of you), is to share it. MUSIC BELONGS TO EVERYONE!
