CoOp Presents proceed to give you what you need! Following on from the 'Plug One' series, a whole slew of releases are scheduled for the second half of the year, as we enter the next phase of the CoOp Presents universe. First up, the Selectors Assemble crew with a mammoth remix project reinterpreting tracks from LCSM's subliminal album 'Earthbound'. Originally released last year on Dutch label, Super Sonic Jazz, 'Earthbound' was a highly-acclaimed project from a band headed by CoOp Presents label-boss IG Culture, featuring a heavyweight band comprised of some of London's most talented players, including members of Steam Down, Wonky Logic, Nathaniel Cross and IG's label partner, Alex Phountzi, amongst others. LCSM (aka Likwid Continual Space Motion) is an exploration into afro-futurism, inspired by the likes of Sun Ra, but forming a sound entirely unique with a hybrid of bruk, boogie, funk and jazz. The album received rave reviews from the likes of Gilles Peterson, XLR8R and Beat Caffeine, with the vinyl quickly selling out globally, and featuring highly in numerous end of year lists, from Sound Shelter (Sydney), to Bandcamp to The Vinyl Factory, as well as a nomination for "Track of the Year" at the Worldwide Awards and named "Album of the Year" by Rush Hour! So to this new EP released on IG Culture & Alex Phountzi's own imprint. As you'd expect, the Selectors Assemble gang deliver the goods; firing on all cylinders across this 6-track bruk opus. Cengiz kicks off the session with his flip on 'Frequency' ahead of James Rudie's stark sub-heavy version of 'The Box'. There are two mixes of 'More Brilliant Centre', the first from Entek, the second from CoOp Presents co-founder Alex Phountzi. The hyper-tempo'ed 'World Order Is Chaos' sees IG & Alex team up again under their NameBrandSound moniker, and we close out with Xtra Brux's take on 'Let Me' (which originally featured Natalie May & Neue Grafik); keeping it soulful and jazzy but adding drums that knock, as they do throughout the EP, staying true to the cosmic-jazz source material, but re-shaping it exceptionally for the bruk dancefloors. LCSM 'Earthbound Remixes' are released digitally worldwide on July 16th 2021

Melbourne’s 30/70 join forces with London and Australia’s South East elite beat-makers to deliver ‘Fluid Motion: Remixed’ on Rhythm Section International.

After the fruits of 2018’s luminous and lifted ‘Elevations’ iteration, we were keen to see how the rich, soulful and instrumental layers of last Summer’s ‘Fluid Motion’ LP could be reimagined by some of the key players in our mutual musical scenes. So, we invited a selection of our nearest and dearest to create their take on the track from the record that spoke to them most.

The ‘Fluid Motion: Remixed’ EP expands the album’s effortless eclecticism but offers energies more suited to the dancefloor that we’re missing oh so much. The first single comes from fellow label affiliates SAUL who kick things off with a bouncy breaks flip of N.Y.P., transforming it’s tender tones into a bright and lively party starter. It’s followed up by Peckham’s hazy house producers, Athlete Whippet, who inject ’Tempted’ with foot-stomping percussion and a moody electronic groove. We then move to the Southern Hemisphere with Close Counters, who serve up an ‘Impermanence’ rework that journeys from sweaty bruk stylings to a sunny club chug. Setwun amps up the heat of Allysha’s pacey lyrical performance in title track ‘Fluid Motion' with squelchy low-swinging synths, showcasing his signature fusion of dance and funk. From Sydney’s self-proclaimed ‘Soulstranaut’ to “the Dilla of Deptford” (STW), Maxwell Owin chops up ‘Tempted’ with a vigorous chasing tempo, twinkling glitches, a plunging bassy breakdown and seductive whispers to propel his gritty-city sonic aesthetic into a far-flung atmospheric nebula.

The Fluid Motion remix project sees the musical worlds of SE16 and Melbourne meet once again, proving it to be an alliance that just keeps on giving.

Selectors Assemble bring you this exclusive premiere of "Arboles" taken from the soon to drop self-titled album of the Afro Brunk Band!

Born out of the favelas and samba schools of São Paulo, the Afro Bruk Band Project is a collaboration of singers, poets, musicians, friends and family. Their sound is inspired by Bossa-Nova, Afrobeat, Brasilian / Cuban Yoruba culture and the Broken Beat sound from the UK.

The brainchild of the project is Swiss-based Ruben Estevez, producer and DJ of Bruk Boogie Kru sound system. His aim was to create a live project, to promote musicians, to diffuse their passion out of Brasil and to export Brasilian musical street culture.
