Dear friends - a little song about our nature.
This is a picture from "Stens huvud" in the south east of Sweden.
Approximate translation into English:

The Stream

I walk along the stream
that glitters in the morning light
i can see all the trees reflected here
they seem oblivious to what we humans do

I sit down there
the most beautiful flowers exist
I have to be very careful so they are always there
when all our children go out to see how everything is

What is it
that splashes at the edge of the stream
it looks like a beaver building a nest
he tears and drags on a branch which he places as a roof
 
Over there under the trees
small birds can take a dip
and they chirp and they play for a while with each other
and they haven't seen me yet because I'm as quiet as a mouse

	This song takes it's inspiration from Cugel, self styled “the Clever”, the protagonist in two of Jack Vance's “Dying Earth” novels.    He a small time rogue, thief, con-man, fence and general all purpose survivor in a world that demands quick wits, fast feet and utterly no conscience.   Not a nice person.
	People like Cugel have existed in our own world throughout history, still exist in our own time, and very likely will continue to exist for the entire future of humankind.   If you have never encountered such a person, it is possibly because you have led a sheltered life.
