Persians and Arabs aren't the same group.

In the film's defence, they could make the argument that the Middle East/Levant pre-the Arab/Islamic conquest was different in its ethnic make-up to a degree, mainly since Arabs hadn't conquered the area yet, I mean when they dug up Ramises 3rd they found he had red hair, I reckon Christian Bale with a bit of a tan maybe could pull it off, there's quite a few films now based on historical figures where the actors aren't the same ethnicity as the person they're portraying, I mean Ghandi wasn't half-white but that didn't stop Ben Kingsley playing him.

Unless Macedonians are black, and inbreeding consistently causes people to become black, then I'm never able to see where this idea comes from, nor why it matters particularly.
