Chances are, you know Moby best for his electronic dance music. But it turns out the eclectic-minded musician has another life, as an architecture buff who recently moved to LA and now writes a blog about buildings here he loves. The blog is called, simply, Moby Los Angeles Architecture Blog, and features his photos of local architecture—from commonplace courtyard apartments to iconic houses by Frank Lloyd Wright—as well as his musings on the urban environment.  Frances Anderton talks to Moby about his love of architecture.

When I hear an Alchemist beat I can always expect the it to hold its own weight as an instrumental with out the vocalist. Sometimes I scratch my head and think "How did he do that?" Alchemist is one of the most respected producers and beatmakers today.

His trademark soul samples have always caught my ear due to his unique ability to flip old records that evoke emotion. Alchemist was part of the golden era of west coast Hip Hop having been taking under the arm of Cypress Hill and later producing for LA heavyweights Dilated Peoples. Later he shifted to the east coast and went on to produce for Nas, Mobb Deep, Ghostface Killah and Jadakiss.

His latest release, Russian Roulette drops July 17th on Decon and features 30 plus tracks of obscure samples and sounds with features from Danny Brown, Evidence, Schoolboy Q and many others.

Our 21st Century world can be a scary place, what with concerns about terrorism and climate change. But during the Cold War we worried about World War III breaking out and the very real threat of nuclear annihilation. To alert people about a possible atomic attack in Los Angeles, warning sirens were put in across the city. The Cold War is long over, but those sirens are still there if you know where to look. KCRW's Saul Gonzalez went looking with a siren hunter.
