Excited to share this one with you guys! Pushing It Off featuring McCall started as this guitar idea and some simple drums but as it progressed it got more and more complex, contrasting some fun sound design with the original guitar riffs. 20 years of beats production - with a techno edge.

Since the first contact of U-trax with NYC based producer Thavius Beck in 2018, he sent us over 100 unreleased tracks, or beats, as he calls them. 25 of them have been selected for releases on U-TRAX, good for over 2 hours of music, across one album and an EP.

The tracks vary in style a lot, but what they have in common is that they either are moody – in U-TRAX lingo: deep - or they are drum heavy. The common denominator would probably be ‘experimental/instrumental hip-hop’, reminiscent of producers like Flying Lotus.

People have tried all sorts of comparisons to pinpoint Thavius’ sound, ranging from ‘between DJ Shadow and Orbital’ and ‘a mix of Massive Attack and The Orb’. None of these are spot on, yet quite a few of these tracks feel like a happy marriage between hip-hop beats and techno sounds.

The stunning hand painted artwork for both releases was created by NYC artist Sfera Louis.

I was once in a bar at Sundance Film Festival and Harvey Weinstein made an entrance, having just bought a (terrible) film for millions of dollars. You could see everyone in the room change their persona, reacting to the presence of the big man. Who wouldn't think they could get away with anything if they had that sway over people. Don't be fooled by the outwardly bright, upbeat nature of the track - dark undertones are weaved intricately throughout the tale in anticipation for the upcoming final narrative. Just in time for the English subtitle version of the film "Bar25 – Timeless Days“, the long overdue continuation of the cult soundtrack to the film is finally presented. Along with the title "Zeitgeist“, a new compilation series is introduced that kidnaps us periodically and takes us to the world of electronic music fantasies. Endless nights and timeless days characterize the musical style of an entire party generation.
