Fresh off a year of extensive coast-to-coast touring, SOOHAN returns with COLLECTIVE EFFERVESCENCE, a new album of found and remixed material that showcases his most receptive tracks from the year prior. Collective Effervescence is named for the sociological concept coined by Èmile Durkheim, which generally states that when people come together as communities, they retain the ability to act as one.

Such is the truth of how your bodies all over North America responded to this visceral selection of Soohan's newest remixes and edits, often meant directly for festival crowds. Worldly rhythms abound as Soohan introduces you to the likes of Adèle & Zalem, A-WA, Sukhwinder Singh & Vijay Prakash, and Ana Tijoux through 808-tinged lenses. Interspersed are moments of re-interpreted pop genius. A supercut of Missy Elliot's hardest lines runs atop a selection of Timbaland's best cuts, while elsewhere, Weezer meets Passion Pit and bass-heavy beat patterns straight from the Bay area. 

Equal parts a must-have for the day-ones and the perfect entry port into Soohan's world of remixed art from around the world, a continued journey of musical discovery.

ill.Gates presents his second sampler to his forthcoming album, Departures. This time featuring world renowned drummer / percussionist Ben Walsh playing the dulcimer and @katiasmusic providing the soulful vocals. Danidoo played the flute samples. 

Mad props to everyone over at Paradise One in Australia. 

Bamboo was mostly composed in Australia and Jamaica on a global pilgrimage by ill.Gates that generated much of the Departures and Terminally ILL material. The last stop on the trip was Bamboo Bass festival in Costa Rica. Katia's vocals were recorded outdoors on a rainy night in the bush. If you listen closely you can still hear the raindrops.

We’re coming in with both fists full of rich AF trap this week with a deep and dirty collaboration between Morzfeen and Drix.

Salt Lake City, Utah’s Morzfeen rose through the ranks as a DJ who first cut his chops on the turntables with Chicago hard house at 17, moving into DNB and Jungle and now has firmly cemented himself as a producer to be contended with. Drix is bass-breathren with Morzfeen in Salt Lake City’s Smoke Siignals, and is a force to be reckoned with in the studio and onstage.

‘Vibration Syndrome’ is a sensual and dangerous creepshow that crypwalks the line between UK grime and the underbelly of America’s trap in a true form. In the way a master teacher can introduce new ideas by twisting our concept of the familiar, Vibration Syndrome throws bows with everything we love about west coast bass bangers, yet pulls us to the corner for a taste of 2020. The title track is hypnotising; 808s over distorted backdrops host pinging accents for head nodding fury. ‘Complex’ slows down and dives deep with MC samples, deep drops and turntable rewinds. ‘Patch Me Through’ will quickly become a festival favourite, with the grime samples, low-end horns and overall musicality that throws dusty dancefloors into a frenzy.

With the remixes that round out the ‘Vibration Syndrome’ ranging from heavy electro, to deep, mystical dub and full on DNB, this summer drop is the gift that keeps on giving.
