I remember watching the Darren Aronofsky film, The Wrestler, and being really touched when Mickey Rourke's character says, "I forget stuff and I ain't as pretty as I used to be but god damn it I'm still standing here and I'm The Ram".

What a brilliant idea. My interpretation? Always look forward because "yesterday is dead and it ain’t coming back".

As for the music, it is borderline lo-fi rock. I tried to keep the chord progressions and the beat really driving and minimalist. I think you can hear a bit of New York Dolls, The Stooges and maybe a touch of Television & The Rolling Stones. Oh yeah, the middle break was kind of inspired by Led Zep’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’ (may not be very obvious) and the guitar solo is me trying to channel early Angus Young. I also thought it was cool to add a bit of Little Richard style piano.

For those of you with a good ear, the main drum line is actually a sample from The Moody Blues song ‘Ride My See Saw’. Although it is a basic drum sequence that most drummers could play in their sleep, I just love the primitive sound of the recording - as always playing is one thing, feel is another. Importantly, I do not own the rights to this sample.
