Désir d'Enfant invite Le Frit ~ 10.03.2021

Zèbres Records is back celebrating Plein Soleil’s new release blending his polyrhythmic, ambient and dub aspirations. Through his solo project, Jonathan Grandcollot —also part of Société Etrange, Pan Pan Pan and supergroup Omertà— explores his broad DIY instrumentation, working his percussions towards a dub, fourth-world space, ruling out every "cliché associated with the genre, instead generously filling this 12" with mesmerizing agitation. "UV" will be out in September 2021, distributed by Glasgow’s Rubadub.

About Zèbres:
Zèbres was founded in 2017, in Lyon (France), by Frère Zèbre, also responsible for the creation of the now Lyon, Paris and Brussels-based LYL webradio, and Lyon’s Bistrot Senior. This flexible, loose entity is now collective: long time partner in design La Brigade Cynophile is in, as well as Raymonde who impulsed the label with his first release (and is also founder of the experimental platform Mus Joutra), and finally by Tom Chaussette, tall, dark shade working in the background. 

No aim, no tempo, no plans. It’s been four years since our first release, and there’ll be maybe another decade to the next, maybe not. We’ll probably release more with greater-Lyon artists, maybe beyond. Maybe we’ll keep on publishing the tribal-ish, dub-ish, experimental-ish, DIY-100% cuts, perhaps not. We’ll most certainly stay focused on contemporary musicians, yet we dig different eras, so again, we won’t say. One thing is for (almost) sure though: we’ll keep the DIY ethics integral.

COLE PULICE is a saxophone player from Minneapolis whose hypnotic solo debut album GLOAM we proudly release as a vinyl edition. He is an improviser of Ambient Jazz who earned his merits touring with Bon Iver, working with Godspeed You! Black Emperor and releasing wonderful electroacoustic gems with the groups Iceblink (Moon Glyph) and LCM (Orange Milk).

Arrhythmia Netlabel is about to release 'Gema De Gitana', a unique compilation in which cueca - national Chilean folk music and dance - is remixed by country's electronic music producers in a first attempt to present the genre in such an environment. The basis for the album were two songs by Chilean band La Color who mix cueca with cumbia and Afro rhythms. The latter have been especially highlighted in the 'Gitana Remix' prepared by DJ Pérez which is the first taste of an upcoming release that will otherwise include reworks by Paulopulus, Aguilas Paralelas and more.

Very quickly after releasing the first Clyde Built compilation, we knew we had to do another one; the response from the artists involved and thousands who checked out the comp itself was so encouraging that we couldn't wait to do it again!

This time around we set out to replicate the high quality and diverse range of music with an entirely different cast of contributing artists and projects and we’re very excited to share the results with you.

It’s worthwhile mentioning that the vast majority of these tracks are unsigned - many don’t even have artist pages - so if anyone is interested in releasing either the music featured or speaking to one of the artists in question, please don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@huntleyspalmers.com and we’ll put you in touch.
