ਸਭਿ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਮਿਲੋ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Go, everyone, and meet the True Guru; O my soul, He implants the Name of the Lord, Har, har, within the heart.

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਦਿਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਕੀਜਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਤੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਕਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਦੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ । ਕੀਹ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ! ਮਤਾਂ ਅਗਲਾ ਸਾਹ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਜਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ । 
Do not hesitate for an instant - meditate on the Lord, O my soul; who knows whether he shall draw another breath?

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਸਾ ਘੜੀ ਸੋ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘੜੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਮਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
That time, that moment, that instant, that second is so fruitful, O my soul, when my Lord comes into my mind.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਮ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕਦਾ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ) ।੨।
Servant Nanak has meditated on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O my soul, and now, the Messenger of Death does not draw near him. ||2||

ਹਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਦਮੀ ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਅਸੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਇਕ ਦਮ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਾਂ (ਕੀਹ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਮ ਕਦੋਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ? ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਮਿਆਦ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਵਕਤ ਕਦੋਂ ਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਹ
We are human beings of the briefest moment; we do not know the appointed time of our departure.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।੧।
Prays Nanak, serve the One, to whom our soul and breath of life belong. ||1||

ਅੰਧੇ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇ ਦਿਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ! (ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ) ਵੇਖ, ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ, ਇਥੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਥੋੜੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
