Your Creative Power is marvellous, and Your Lotus Feet are admirable.

ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਯਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਪੁਨਃ ਤੇਰੇ (ਕਦਮ) ਚਰਨ (ਸਲਾਹ) ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਨੇ ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ॥

ਕਿਆ ਪੜੀਐ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਨੀਐ ॥

ਨਿਰੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ
What use is it to read, and what use is it to study?

ਕਿਆ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ਸੁਨੀਐ ॥
kiaa bedh puraanaa(n) suneeaai ||
ਹੇ ਗੰਵਾਰ!) ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ 
What use is it to listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas?

ਪੜੇ ਸੁਨੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥
paRe sune kiaa hoiee ||
ਜੇ ਇਸ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਸੁਣਨ ਦੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ 
What use is reading and listening,

ਜਉ ਸਹਜ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
jau sahaj na milio soiee ||1||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ 
if celestial peace is not attained? ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪਸਿ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥
har kaa naam na japas gavaaraa ||
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਤਾਂ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ 
The fool does not chant the Name of the Lord.

ਕਿਆ ਸੋਚਹਿ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kiaa socheh baara(n) baaraa ||1|| rahaau ||
ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਹੋਰ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਣ ਦਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀਹ ਲਾਭ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ? ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
So what does he think of, over and over again? ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਧਿਆਰੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਚਹੀਐ ॥
a(n)dhiaare dheepak chaheeaai ||
ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਤਾਂ) ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤਾਕਿ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ
In the darkness, we need a lamp

ਇਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
eik basat agochar laheeaai ||
ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ
to find the incomprehensible thing.

ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪਾਈ ॥
basat agochar paiee ||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
I have found this incomprehensible thing;

ਘਟਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
ghaT dheepak rahiaa samaiee ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਦੀਵਾ ਫਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ 
my mind is illuminated and enlightened. ||2||

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
keh kabeer ab jaaniaa ||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਉਸ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ 
Says Kabeer, now I know Him;

ਜਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
jab jaaniaa tau man maaniaa ||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।
since I know Him, my mind is pleased and appeased.

ਮਨ ਮਾਨੇ ਲੋਗੁ ਨ ਪਤੀਜੈ ॥
man maane log na pateejai ||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੁੜਨ ਨਾਲ (ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡੀ) ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ; 
My mind is pleased and appeased, and yet, people do not believe it.

ਨ ਪਤੀਜੈ ਤਉ ਕਿਆ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩॥੭॥
n pateejai tau kiaa keejai ||3||7||
ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ,) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਭੀ ਕਰਾਏ, 
They do not believe it, so what can I do? ||3||7||
