"WLS In Chicago, Channel 89

Here is the popular PAMS Series 18, "Sonosational" package for WLS.  The "Sonosational" refers to the use of a device called a Sonovox.  Some would say the Sonovox sounds like the device Stevie Wonder and Peter Frampton used on their vocals on some of their recordings.

The Sonovox was actually a device invented in the 1940's by Gilbert Wright.  It was created to act as an artificial larynx for use with people who had lost their vocal chords due to medical reasons.  The short explanation of this device: A speaker was held against the individual's neck and the person would articulate speech in a whisper- the vibrations would come through as speech through another speaker.  Look it up- it's very interesting.  

PAMS founder Bill Meeks came up with the inspired idea of using this device on jingles- not only did he use it on vocals, but producers also used it on various instruments and when both vocals and instruments were used with the Sonovox, it sounded like the instruments were "talking."

Wij gaan we geen levensbeschrijving maken. Dat doen en kunnen anderen beter. Wij eren Lex in 40 jingles. 
Vooraf toch even kort over zijn naam: Lex Harding werd geboren als Reinhard Lodewijk den Hengst op 16 april 1945 in Boskoop. "Programmaleider Tony Windsor vond dat ik als disc jockey een andere naam moest hebben en dat werd Lex Harding, met dezelfde initialen als mijn echte naam. Lex haalde ik uit een advertentie in de krant, waarin werd aangekondigd dat het sigarettenmerk Lexington werd omgedoopt in Lex 25. Harding werd er door Tony Windsor aan toe gevoegd. Een sterke naam, vond hij. Later bleek dat Harding een van de meest corrupte presidenten van de USA is geweest. Een kniesoor die daar op let", zegt Lex Harding op www.norderney192.
