West Norwood Cassette Library, AKA Bob Bhamra, has been digging through the vaults of his extensive production library, serving up this delightful double pack of gems and nuggets.  Some of these tracks have been buried deep for a few years, others have been ‘dubplate only’ for a while, so you’re definitely opening up a Pandora’s box of delights here.

‘Acid Jazz’ cuts and chops the classic breaks and samples with some frenzied acid action, whilst ‘(We Have To Live) In The Future’ holds a dusty and raw disco house vibe.  Elsewhere on the double pack, ‘Innervisions’ slams down a solid Todd Terry-esque breaksbeat pattern, peppered with all the hallmarks of the classic London garage sound.  ‘Roots’ plunders the WNCL influences, a hybrid track that fuses electro and drum & bass with ease, whilst ‘Body Rock’ and ‘Time Loops’ showcases his love of jazz and funk, always cutting and chopping but with a contemporary presentation on the music.

‘8 Track Cartridge’ EP is available from December 2013 on 2X12” vinyl and digital download.

Two artists who we've been long championing - London based meditative musician @jonnynash of (Land of Light, Sombrero Galaxy and Kham Lingtsang Band), and LA young gun Diego Herrera aka @suzannekraft, who is also 1/3 of The Pharaohs. Performing live for the second time having only met last month, improvising on gear loaned by Andras Fox, Roland Tings and Michael Ozone. Could have been a disaster. Turned heaven sent.

Cultivating a sound that sits somewhere between Prince of Denmark and early Claro Intelecto with splashes of Clone influence, nthng's stripped-back techno walks fuzzy, shrouded paths through nolstagic moments in time.

At times almost drowning, his engulfing sound is a raw reminder of the power of subtlety and the use of meditative looping along with a rough-around-the-edges production style has led to an incredibly moving debut work.

Daniel Ansorge completed an impressive trifecta in 2014. He released his debut album, Magazine 13, in November. In October he put out one of the year's biggest club 12-inches on Hinge Finger, while back in May he turned in an exceptional remix of C.P.I.'s "Proceso." (That track, along with "Chappell," made it into our best tracks of 2014 list). It seemed that whatever Ansorge put his name to, it was guaranteed to stand out. The Cologne producer's music is strangely assembled and often aggressively bare. 

It's a style that bleeds into his RA Podcast, a 90-minute session of off-the-wall dance music that sees Ansorge weave his way through tunes by the likes of Lena Willikens, Juju & Jordash and Traxx. 

What have you been up to recently? 

My first album came out on my label, Magazine, which I run with Crato and Jens-Uwe Beyer, last month. There also was an EP for Will Bankhead and Joy Orbison's Hinge Finger in October. 

How and where was the mix recorded? 

In the Magazine Studios here in Cologne. I laid it out on 1210s, CDJs and a Rane mixer and recorded it on a computer. 

Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix? 

I don't make much of a difference between home listening and club music because it would feel like an artificial barrier in me. So this mix also doesn't. Actually I play sets like this in clubs, if the atmosphere is right. 

Your touring schedule seemed to be increasingly busy this year—do you have a favourite new place that you played? 

I played Institut für Zukunft in Leipzig this autumn. It is a new raw place with a Kirsch Audio soundsystem run by a collective of good people. 

Were there any record labels that you were particularly feeling this year? 

Holger, Berceuse Heroique and The Trilogy Tapes from the UK just to name a few. The two mini-albums from Weber and Dream Weapons on Leipzig label Holger were excellent. I am sure Holger will be noticed by more people next year. Dial from Hamburg had a good year—it almost felt like a comeback, with the Roman Flügel and Efdemin albums and the remixes for Efdemin. Giegling from Weimar of course. The Torus album by Vril, Edward, DJ Metatron, Traumprinz... And I just got sent the second release from the Cologne Dorfjungs label. I expect great things of them in the future. 

What are you up to next? 

There are a few remixes lined up. All of them will be for friends or labels I really like.

The B-side of this humorously titled release is hands down one of my favourite tracks of all time, and definitely my favourite Levon Vincent creation. One of the few records that I can honestly say is well worth the high marketplace price, though I hope my copy gives me years of play! There's really no fitting description for this shifting chugger; it's a totally melodic and dubby slice of techno with a nice, subtle tinge of house-y-ness. It keeps going and going, with every element in its perfect place. Lots of reverb and warped sounds that build a series of layered loops from some ultimately quite simple components. For me that's the mark of perfection: a fugue-like cycle that plays on a perfect kick, bass drum, etc. And did I mention there are some VERY fat synth chords? Oh, and I just listened to it again and must add that there are some sweet pitched up lasers. I've always had a soft spot for the sound of lasers! Mmmmmm, Woman Is The Devil indeed.

It's a  mix from around the turn of the century maybe from europe, I can't recall but thought it was worth sharing. Check it out the man is a house music legend and is sorely missed

One of the most forward-looking producers in the continuing Chicago renaissance of the 1990s, Gemini first came to the world's attention through his recordings for cult Chicago labels Cajual / Relief. He began recording early in the decade, and gained fame for the minimalist flavour of Cajual twelves like ‘Tangled Thoughts' and ‘Duality'. Gemini debuted his album work in late 1997 with his stunning 'In and Out of the Fog and Lights' LP for Peacefrog, which followed 'Hibernation' and 'North Star' EP's. Being a highly sought after DJ in both America and Europe as well as an in demand producer / remix, Spencer Kincey aka Gemini is one of the most important jewels in the Chicago house crown.
