The Subjects Of Time

Two Travelers imagines what happens when different people from different cultures with different stories come together for a few hours while traveling to different destinations. They strike up a conversation that begins with casual pleasantries, but eventually realize they have more in common than expected. Stories of family, love, and loss are universal, and provide a few brief moments of connection on their otherwise solitary travels. And as quickly as they came together, the next leg of their journey finds them parting ways, likely to never see each other again. But the stories remain.

Two Travelers

Based on a popular Ukrainian folk song, Carol of the Bells has been a traditional Christmas season favorite for decades. Multiple renditions have been popularized by performing groups ranging from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Pentatonix. This setting for percussion ensemble is short enough to be a perfect addition to a holiday concert, giving the percussion section an opportunity to flex their chamber ensemble muscles, especially when done without a conductor! Flexible instrumentation and tempo make this arrangement highly adaptable for advanced middle school or high school groups.
