This song is an AAAB form where each A (verse) is a fairly extended chord progression that starts off minor and ends up major. Kinda bluesy. The B (hook) at the end might surprise you...

The song is a bit on the long side, but that's what I intended. 65 BPM. About 9 minutes. Some patience may be required. lol

Eudemonic is an original composition that started off as an acoustic bossa.  

But then Santa (me) showed up with a copy of Overloud TH3.  The composition
took on a rock/fusion feel.

This remix adds a new drum track, bass and melody instruments, and complete tweaking of every track's equalization, compression, audio effects, etc.

A Child Is Born (remix)

This song morphed quite a bit during composition, recording, editing, and mixing.  I'm not sure I'm happy with the way it turned out, but that's (like) life.  I learned a lot and am grateful for the experience.

The form of this song is ABABCABD.  I could write about secondary dominants, tritone substitutions, etc. but that would be more boring than the song! lol  And I really don't think that way while composing anyway.  Let it suffice to say that there are many non-diatonic chords...

Recently we have lost some great musicians.  Scott Weiland, David Bowie, Glen Frey, Paul Kantner, Maurice White, Sir George Martin, Keith Emerson...
This one goes out to them. RIP
 


Mi Dispiace

Back to a standard - "Blue Bossa" is an instrumental jazz composition by Kenny Dorham. It was introduced on Joe Henderson's 1963 album Page One.

While this is in a minor key, it's really quite upbeat.  No cryin' in the beer here! lol

This goes out to the grandkids - present and future.  Grandpa didn't totally suck...

Blue Bossa

This one started off as a (almost) new age solo piano piece.  I can't explain what happened next... lol

Everything not guitar was played on keyboard (Akai MPK-88) and rendered with various VSTs.
