40 years ago saw the release of the first volume of major label pop compilations that quickly became a household name, and remain so to this day, 'Now That's What I Call Music!' 

As a kid in the 80s, these albums got a ton of plays from me & my family; at home, in the car, to the walkman soundtracking my walk (or run!) to/from school.

The first 9 volumes were on vinyl or tape only, appearing on CD from No.10 onwards. They were always cheaper than buying loads of singles anyway. We didn't have internet playlists back then. If you wanted to hear a variety of the latest big hits, there was the radio, mixtapes or compilations like Now. So this is an internet radio mixtape about a compilation. 

Now! was basically the UK successor to the K-Tel / Ronco / TOTP "as seen on TV" type comps & have seen off a bunch of rivals over the years, in terms of brand recognition. They are undisputedly the most successful pop compilation series of all time, across the world.

This is a mix of 50 tracks over 100 minutes, plucked from Vol's 1-10 (Nov 1983 - Nov  1987).
A random selection of feel-good mid-80's nostalgia - pop, soul and rock chart smashes.
Some would say guilty pleasures, but standardly I feel no guilt. 

This could have been a million hours long, so I set myself some selection rules...

Criteria:
- All tracks taken from UK releases of Vol.1 (28th Nov 1983) to Vol. 10 (23rd Nov 1987) only
- I haven't included any tracks featured on my previous Xennials 80's mixes
- Nothing from spin-off comps (Now Dance etc), or ones released later on
- No more than one track from each artist, whether solo or in a group
- No re-issues (lots of older tracks charted & were featured on these comps)
- I capped it at 50 tracks precisely for this mix, for brevity. There may need to be another…

Happy to be shared this amazing CD which may have gone under the radar for many people. I first heard about Miles and Elliot from when Garry and Keiron booked them to play in Sunderland for their Ward 10 parties, which if you went to or heard of will understand that it was house music of the very highest calibre.
