Welcome to 'Mental Health Services,' a musical Journey of @KekaiUnknown psyche and its battles with mental illness. Through ambient, rough, soul soothing melodies and raw, honest lyrics, this mixtape sheds light on the shadows of suicide, the weight of depression, the relentless grip of anxiety, and the distorted nature of schizophrenia.

"Why did (KekaiUnknown) Create this album?"
- "To cope with everything in my life up to this point. I took this mixtape like an actually therapy session and just blurted shit out. I speak how I talk in therapy,
I sing how I talk in therapy, and I breathe like I'm in therapy."

"Why is it named 'Mental Health Services?'"
- "My therapist 'Troy Love,' Yes that is indeed his name. He has been my therapist since 2017 and he has helped me through everything. He was there when I attempted suicide, when I was so depressed I didn't leave me room for months, when my anxiety is so bad I cant go outside, he has been with me through it all working with me to get by... never once saying he'd let me die."

"What did the creation feel like?"
- "Fun, Exciting, Purposeful, Meaningful. I've never had this much fun making music! I wanna make more and do this as a career!"

"what was the process?"
- "I made a song 'Sick voices' and it made me realize my mental health awareness ability. I know I'm mentally ill and yet I am a functioning member of society. So i wrote more about what I'm aware of with my mental such as Social life, Voices in my head, Anxiety, Depression, Suicide attempts and much more."

This song was written at a dark moment for Kekai. He wrote this the day he got out of a 2-year relationship. He felt on top of the world and when this was made he felt low, real low. not his lowest tho. This creation encouraged him to keep dreaming, keep achieving, and keep working. Amazed at how he's come from all the negative in life and is still around to flip it off. This song is a great memory of using art such as music to embrace his emotion for the time.

Kekai talks a lot about his mental health in his music. He deals with suicidal thoughts very often and it is a reoccurring thought that runs through his mind. As of Dec 8th, 2022, he is 5 years suicide attempt-free and knows he will not act upon a suicidal thought. Although even securing himself, friends, and family he cannot rid of the thoughts and the mental struggle of wanting to end it all. A lot of his Conscious Blackout he wishes he could just die instead. Coming back from a blackout gives him the most confusion and uncertainty in life he has ever felt. This song represents for KekaiUnknown that even tho suicide is how he feels he will not act upon the urge.

Using love as a way for self-gain is the lowest a person can do someone else. This song is specific in its way of letting go of those who have used love as a weapon. someone made it the Highest and lowest points in life he's ever experienced. This is a song to express the entity that changed the direction of his entire life going forward. Many people only know what was shown to the public and what was said from others' perspective. still, no one has asked Kekai of his perspective on this time in life.

Bridging Hearts was a Wakeup call for Kekai. He noticed he could really jump and go forward in his goals. the first step is hard but not impossible. He created this to push himself to do things he normally wouldn't or to do things he knows he's 100% comfortable with. This song was his step.

KekaiUnknown, born on May 9th, 2002, and raised in the sun-drenched landscapes of Yuma, Arizona. From a Young age he found inspiration within his artistic family. His Grandpa Gerry Ahyo, a Vietnam War Veteran, was an artist himself. Kekai states “My Grandpa was always doing art forms when I was growing up: Music, Drawing, Writing, Puzzles, Sculpting, and more… He never was not doing something creative and that made me always want to do art.”

In 2011 his grandpa passed away and the most traumatizing life began. The Path has had its share of struggles such as Mental Health, Drug addiction, Self Harm, and Suicidal tendencies. These personal Struggles are transformed into his coping mechanism of Art.

The lyrics and Feeling in the beat offer a glimpse into his soul and to find common ground in this world. Music serves as a vessel for self-discovery and connection. In every beat, note, lyric, KekaiUnknown invites the world where vulnerability is celebrated, and the journey towards self discovery is embraced. KekaiUnknown’s story is one of redemption, authenticity, and passion.
